I want to replace my Gennie Shifter, and the two I am considering are the Lokar tail mount shifter and the B&M Street Rod shifter (links below). Has anyone had experience with either of these units. I know Lokar stuff is high quality, and I have used B&M's Quick Silver in another rod and really liked it, but the QS is not right for my application. Each of these works on slightly different principles but are essentially the same type of detente unit.

I have installed both of these shifters and the quality is comparable but in my opinion the lokar is much better looking with its tapered shaft--just sayin

I have a Lokar shifter in my "40 Ford coupe & am well pleased w/ it. It had a pair of crappy looking stamped steel heims & a length of threaded rod for linkage & I upgraded to real heims & threaded a piece of 1/4" bar stock for the linkage rod. Once I actually read the instructions the built-in neutral safety works properly every time!

I used my Lokar as is out of the box. I now have over 65,000 mi on it without a problem
Some days it\'s not worth chewing through the restraints.

UGLY OLDS

I just finished installing a Lokar "Floor-Mount" shifter in the Kidd's '37 Dodge ..  We installed a Lokar downshift cable also ...
Like was mentioned before ...I read the instructions ...Looked at the photos ... It worked the first time with no "monkey motion" .. Very impressed .. I will use them again .. 8)

Thanks, everyone. It appears the Lokar unit would be a good choice.
