Is This Sheby Wheel Worth Anything?

Measures 15" by 7.25 wide, 3" center to center on the lugs and has a 3.75" center hole. May have come off a Ford van in the '80s. I saved it from the scrap a long time ago and am about to use it for an air hose reel if it's only value is scrap aluminum price.

hard to say..

shelby had a major sized wheel manufacturing plant here in the los angeles area.. my friends father worked there as an quality inspector on the production line..

i don't know much about aftermarket rims..

measure it out.. bolt pattern also..   put it up on ebay..

air hose reel is a good use for it..

if you had a hub and bearing assembly.. off something.. even though it does not fit.. mount it on one stud only.. so its offset...

this will allow you to pull the hose off the wheel as the wheel goes around but the offset will stop it from just spinning..

use the valve stem hole for a pipe fitting with either an elbow or a quick connect... a valve also to shut it off... a flex hose with a swivel right thru the splined CV Shaft hole to allow the hub and wheel to spin...

a quick connect could also be used as a swivel..


its almost a shame that there is no tire mounted.. as you could get it seated on the beads.. and carefully cut the sidewalls out.  remove the tread area.. this would leave nice flexy rubber sides to prevent extra hose from  falling off.. and protect ones head if you came up under it..    

one might even cut some slots in the sidewalls. to allow you to tuck the end of the coiled hose into ..keep it from dangling..

Some good ideas there Wayne. I do have a couple of 15" truck tires around here that are too old to be put back in service. Who else would have a Shelby wheel hose reel?
