I read on another board that Valvoline 10W40 was no longer being produced. Anyone heard this? It seemed to be confirmed by several people. I wonder why they would do that, it's been my normal oil for all older cars for years.

Didn't GM not recommend 10-40 in their cars?  Could that be what killed it?  Or, maybe wanting a thinner oil to help with gas mileage?

5-20 and 5-30 seem to be the most common nowadays..

My Honda powered Saturn requires 5-20 or the warranty is voided. That stuff pours out like water. I have used Valvoline 10-40 in all my Amercan stuff since I lost a Pontiac engine at 53K by using Pennsoil every 3K back in the '80's.
