I see on the ECTA site that a motorcycle went off the end of the track last week, and the driver was killed. http://www.ecta-lsr.com/

There is a story on Landracing dot com web site from the fellow that was helping Gerald Deneau learn how to race his bike at the meet.  That fellow  had to load up up  all of Gerald's stuff and take back home to the family.

While I'm sure it's sad for his family he had a pretty good run at almost 74 years.  Having watched some friends and family go the long, slow decline way due to various deseases, going out doing what you love might be a better way.

Tough weekend for racing. I drag racer was killed at Thompson Raceway in Ohio this weekend. I think his last name was Moore. Back in the 60's a fellow named Ray Moore raced a 40's era coupe there that was pretty fast. I did wonder if this chap was a relative. To bad!

He is kinda local to me, we may have raced at Manassas but bikers and car guys don't mix at all.  I've asked a few buddies but nobody knew him.  I read his story, sounds like a guy i would've liked to have met.
May he Rest in Peace.

The local paper said that there may have been a medical issue,  as he did not back off the throttle after he went through the lights at the end of the mile, and ran off the end of the runway.   He was clocked at 170 mph through the lights.  He had made runs at 125 and 150 previous to the last run. Tragic for his family and friends.
