I have a mid to late 70s C-6 in my 66 F250 behind a 460 and I think the 3 years I let it sit very low on fluid  waiting for me top get it in the 66 is causing some shifting issues and thinking about finding another valve body, will I need to get one from a similar year and does it have to be from one that came behind a 429 or 460.

C6 valve bodys have 2 types of detents on the shift manual valve.

Early type have detents on the valve with spring and ball inside the valve body. The manual valve the shift linkage moves will click into each notch in the valve body

Later design; the detent setup is located in the case on the shift linkage and the manual valve in the v-body simply slides back and forth.

You need to match that up

I looked at how the modulator valve was hooked up and found the brake booster and modulator are getting vacumn from a single intake runner so I need to do some changes to the vacumn lines before changing the valve body,I am going to put the stock valve covers back on so I need to hit the local junkyards for parts and do it all at one time.
