check the fuel pump circuit for load with your new amp tester..

6.8 amps  is an average fuel pump running load...

i worry why the parts and the wire burned...

post what you get..

take a peak at the repair...

perhaps a wire got caught behind something...

Wayne,

7.4 amps in a cold garage.  They have moved the switch to behind the right kick panel next to the fuse block (I'd read on a Ranger forum that they would do that to keep it from getting kicked; should've been there in the first place). My wife is short, and doesn't usually kick her feet up there, but the service mgr. said that he has had problems with the switch in other vehicles.  He said it had high resistance, and that's what caused the meltdown.  Things that make you go 'HMMMMM'.

OK... so your Ranger is repaired.  And Ranger production has ended forever. You now have a collectable vehicle

Yeah, I think I'll park it in the shop and start driving the Yeoman as my daily driver.
