for shop use..  service station air hose..   amazingly.. most parts stores including many autozones stock it behind the counter..   the staff might not even know its there...  as they have never sold any...

oh... and yes.. for this thread.. you can call me an Old Blow hard...

my original post...
if you want to know about plastics.....

there are a few books on the subject...

this book store is only a few miles from my house.. i try to leave my wallet in my car when i venture in...  or i will change one type of print for another..

for a straight answer...

what sort of chemical compounds are you carrying in the hoses... what sort of temps do you expect...

oh yea.. i know you are thinking about an automotive fluid..

automatic transmission fluid...

brake fluid..

power steering fluid...  almost the same as ATF. but much higher pressures...

motor oil...

engine coolant...

I don't like the PVC or Polyurethane hoses.

I prefer the flexibility of the black or red "rubber" hoses. ....In reality, the good ones are a nitrile rubber compound, and most are oil resistant.

Try to avoid non-branded hose as their origin is usually from questionable sources, and the quality is low.  .....Goodyear makes a line of quality hose that is low-priced, as does Parker, and other companies.

One-wire braid hose will withstand any air pressure you will subject it to,
it is not easily cut, punctured, or abraded, highly oil-resistant, and will last a long time.  .....These characteristics are offset by less flexibilty and higher cost.

Fabric-braided hose is most common for air-line usage.

I just bought the Goodyear black rubber 100' hose from Harbor Freight. Sale price 33.99. I had bought some cheap Tractor supply PVC. It was too stiff and leaked thur the body of the hose. My compressor makes 175psi  and it was running a lot and didn't hold pressure.
