I've never seen a coil spring assist on the leaf spring  like this setup.

After market deal to smoooooth out the ride?

Before I even got to the second picture Model "T" came to mind. Seeing that it has a steel wheel on it I would almost guess it is a truck frame and I would also guess that it has the "Rajo" style rear-end if it's still whole. I would think that Ford in the early years probably made a school bus type assembley that was engine and front axel back to the cowl and all that was behind it was a bar frame. The "T" years would date it before '28. GPster

I guess it was a large truck frame.  The rear diff was a large one. I thought perhaps someone had altered a car chassis with truck parts for farm use.

A net friend in Canada sent me some photos and information that does show this setup was on Model T trucks.

It seems the coil setup was built for sedans and trucks to act as a shock asorber

One brand name mentioned is Hassler

Some of the other info shows a dual setup for the rear of the TT trucks.

Here is a photo of an old tow truck

this is a photo link, I hope it works. It seems the RRT bbs says I have reached my 5MB upload limit.
