Thanks.  I have a vague memory of a lot of shouting and celebrating going on when I was quite young, people coming in and out of our duplex and the one next door, and all over the street, one big party, and I know that was what it was about, but  that's all I know.  (Born in Feb. '42)  We have the newspaper from that day framed in our family room, now, along with a gasoline rationing book and some other stuff.
