My grandson Josh picked up a nice 90 Mustang with a 5.0 that runs real strong. The problem is there is a driveline vibration. We pulled the rear end and went through it, no problems there. The driveshaft was a bit too long, so we had a new driveshaft made, and replaced the transmission yoke with a good used one. It improved but still vibrated. Today we were checking things, and found that the tailshaft of the transmission is bent slightly, so we are looking for parts again. The only way I have seen a tailshaft bent was throwing a driveshaft out. This sound right, or is there something about this trans that I don't know about?

so you could clamp it onto the crossmember.. get an indicator reading of the smooth part of the yoke by just turning the rear wheels by hand...

I have a magnetic dial indicator. It's about .060 out.

i wonder if the output shaft splined area is twisted????   you said it runs really good.... good enough to twist parts????

You may be right Wayne, but I will have to tear it down to find out.

if you have a T5 transmission...

there are several others that will withstand more power...

or possibly searching out some of the tougher parts from the article above...

you mentioned this car was just added to your stable..  perhaps its prior damage... from extensive abuse...

just a thought...
