he also worked with someone on a big book of the olds and pontiac rears.

Hi Ip.
One "friend" for such info can be "www.google. com"  then put in your search . ie. 1957 Oldsmobile rear axle" or "1957 Oldsmobile specifications" etc.   This comes up with all sorts of stuff . for example A "popular mechanics"  road test had a 57 Olds  with a 3.42 rear end.
Hope this gives more leads.

1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964 Pontiac Oldsmobile Rear 9.3 Axle Housing.

All of the housings pictured are in good, used condition.  A few may have very, very light pitting.  They have all been chemically dipped and are cleaned and ready to narrow or use as is.  The housings are typically used in the old gassers; nostalgia front engine dragsters; 1955, 1956, and 1957 Chevys; Willys; Anglias or a stock Pontiac, Oldsmobile stock restoration.
