I think the brakes on the maverick 8 inch I have on my 55 sunliner look to be a little small compared to the original,I found a 70 torino wagon in a new junkyard and if it has a 8 inch would those brakes be larger and would they fit a maverick rear end without too much hassle or is there others I can use.

A Maverick rear will have 10" by 1 3/4" shoes. The original was 11" by 1 3/4". The Torino will have 10" by 2" if it had a six, or a 302, 10" by 2 1/2" if it was a 351, 390, or 429. You can also use the 11" by1 3/4" brakes from a 61 to 64 Ford full size as long as they come from a small bearing housing.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Thanks for the info, when the snow melts I will check out the wagon but I think its sunk to the frame,I know where a bunch of 61 to 64 full size are that would be easier to get off the cars.

Thanks for the info and I think the wagon is sunk to the frame in the mud so I know where a bunch of 61-4s that would be easier to get off the cars, will a one inch larger shoe be any difference or will I be wasting time and money.

junkyardjeff,
I just finished putting brakes on a Ford 8in for my 29 roadster.  See, I had a couple of "moments" in the Canadian Rockies last summer and said to hell with tradition.  I had buick drums( thanks Frank) up front and 40 banjo out back.
I now have 11 3/4in discs up front and 11in discs out back.  The rears are 96/02 Ford Crown Vic/Marquis and with a single spacer, they are a bolt on for a small bearing 8 or 9in ford rear. The other stuff, e brake, brake lines, etc., are up to you.
The spacer is 0.250 thick and the dia. of the bearing.  It fits between the bearing and the retainer plate.
For $250 I have "new" brakes complete, including brackets (junkyard), emergency brake shoes and hardware, flex lines, pads, and rotors
(Advanced Auto, Port huron, Mi.).  I'll let you know how they work.....if it ever quits snowing up here

Thats very interesting but I dont want larger brakes in the rear as I have granadas up front which I think are 10 inches and dont want to mess with them right now,if there is a inexpensive way to put larger up front then I will put disc on the rear.
