midnight sun

Took the A out for a little cruise this morning.  My wife said it has always been like this but I guess I had never noticed, at least at idle.  The oil pressure reads around 10-12 lbs at idle.  It gets up to 30-35 at 2500 and around 40 at 3000.  Pretty mild 327 with a Melling oil pump.

So should I be worried?

Mine has been like that at idle (around 600 rpm) for the past couple years, especially if it is hot out.  As soon as I accelerate it is fine.  It will run 38-40 at about 1900 rpm and 40 over that.  The motor has about 100,000 on it.  I was a little worried also, but haven't had a problem.

According to the Chevy manual I used when I built my race car motors a good rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm.
