getlost4x4

i just rebuilt this carb.  it appears to be a non-leaker!

i'm have problems with the idle setting, in the fact i have no idea how to set them.  it has the automatic choke using engine heat.  it doesn't really work so i'm converting it over to a manual choke.

When the motor warms up the idle is around 2000 rpm and its buring a lot of gas.  it runs really rich.  i adjusted the two screws at the base of the carb and have them set to about a half a turn out from full in.

i live at 4500 feet above sea level so i need to run it pretty lean? i will also be driving this vehicle about 8000 feet in the summer.

so my main questions are:

how to set the idle?

how to adjust the mixture?

Thanks

http://carburetor.ca/pdf_manuals/Ford/F4300-1973AMC.pdf

the 1978 mitch ell   manual has the best description of how this carb works ...

similar to the above info.. but specific to the 4350 for fords...

for more specific thoughts..

just curious... does your model have a vacuum chamber under the passenger side front???

how about a year model..
