Hello;
Working on my brakes on my 57 Chevy still. Just received my new master cylinder. As the old one was rusty as all get out and the new one looks so nice, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to it (paint or?) to keep the outside from rusting! (cast iron)
I know that paint is effected by brake fluid so I am hoping to find something to spray or rub on that will keep it sort of rust free.

I diassembled my new master cylinder, and sent it out to powder coat. When it came back, I reassembled it. Good powder coat is impervious to brake fluid.

You might want to check out some of Eastwood's underhood coatings:

One of these may do the job for you.

+1 on the powder coat, the only way to go.

Mine is just painted with Krylon rattle can. Been on for 8 years, just be a little carefull when filling the master or checking it.
Some days it\'s not worth chewing through the restraints.

What about using that rust converter spray that turns black?

Powder coat, epoxy, or Imron would be my choices.
