I might be buying new heads for my motor this winter and would like some comments from those who have experience with them if possible. Motor is a crate 425hp 454HO  from GM. Rectangular heads with 118cc compression 8.75. Cam is hydraulic roller 510/540 lift, duration 211/230. I'm considering going to the aluminum head that the 440hp ZZ454 runs. Everything about the motor is the same as mine except for the heads and intake. These heads are 110cc compression 9.6. The current setup has been great and I don't want to screw it up but am wondering if it would be of any real benefit to step up and spend the extra for the aluminum heads.

If they are the same heads as on my 502, the ports are not square,  They are 'roval'.  Bigger than oval heads, but smaller and more oval than the square ports, so means a new manifold.  The GM Performance Products heads are actually made by Edelbrock according to my parts guy.

Doug, they are oval port but not the same as the 502 heads. Part # for your heads is 12363390, these are 12363392.  I knew it would mean a new intake
