4.6 litre Merc. sucking gas

Have a friend with a '94 4.6 Merc. Grand Marquis that is suddenly sucking gas. He said it "chugs" and he can smell gas. He said it had a tune up recently, which sounds like plugs and wires. says the air filter is new and clean, supposedly had codes pulled at one of the blisterpack stores and they got nothing. I'm thinking an 02 sensor, but he said it had no codes for that. I haven't looked at it yet, just wondered what else to check.

check the fuel pressure regulator.... see if there is gasoline squirting out the vacuum hose...  right into the intake .... they do go bad...


start there...

I'll second that. Had that exact problem on my 93 Ford.

Sounds good, he says it making a "sucking" noise too!
