Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Another bodywork question
January 03, 2010, 07:36:34 AM
Quote from: "chimp koose"OK here is the next problem, surface rust. What is the best solution to dealing with panels that have a complete coating of rust? This rust is not flaky or anything like that but when sanded it seems to get shiny but not disappear. My entire grill shell is coated with an even coating of rust that seems to have a death grip on the part.

send it to a sandblaster and let them deal with it- worth every penny not to have to do it yourself.

Quote from: "sirstude"I spent a bunch of years wrenching, but now am a computer guy, that plays with hot rods in my garage, and lately I seem to be about as productive as GPster, for some of the same reasons.  I can't make up my mind on how to do things and keep starting over.

Doug

I find an awfuyl lot of car guys lately who work in the 'real world' woth computers. Cant possibly find a correlation but still cool nonetheless.

Just wondering if people here are professionals (either own your own shop or work in one) or just work in your backyard on stuff.

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: HOT ROD MPG ?
August 07, 2008, 07:35:03 AM
Quote from: "Learpilot"What MPG are you getting in your ride ?
I get 22 and 21 w/air highway 15 city.
I have an EFI 355 Chevy 700r4 with 3.55 rear gear.

Thanks, Rick

with a 454 BB Chevy - I get about 10-14 depending on where I am driving. Not too bad cuz thats what I get in my Ford F350 V10 duellie for daily driving too.

Quote from: "Mac"Welcome Lenny. You'll like it here, real layed back. This is one of the easiest forums to post pics on.
I just met you over on the HAMB. You showed an interest in my Jag project. (JackdaRabbit)

cool     Ill keep trying to post pics- maybe some work we have been doing and stuff.

You know- Im not just a builder I've been doing this so long I think I have bondo and grease in my veins (better the bondo there than on a car of mine...LOL)

If anyone is ever in my area (north of Metro Boston MA) don't hesitate to let me know you will be and to stop by. Actually had a few  people from some of the boards Im on come over to visit- one from MD and one from S Africa come to mind lately....

Gotta go bang metal... see ya!
