Rodder's Roundtable / 5 speed behind 454 Chevy?
June 18, 2005, 11:43:36 AM
Try a NV4500 5 speed manual out of a 1995 or newer chevy/gmc k1500 or larger truck.  You might not want the granny 1st gear, but this is an almost unbreakable transmission that has a nice overdrive ratio on 5th.  It is rated to tow like 14,000lbs?  It is about 200 lbs though, and iron cased.  With the granny 1st you could run a really tall rear end ratio.

Check www.car-part.com and I think you might be able to get the complete setup with flywheel, bellhousing, and shifter for 600-1000?

I have one of these transmissions in my gmc 4x4, and all I can say is it is very heavy duty!  It holds about 5 quarts of oil!

Rodder's Roundtable / rooms for back to 50's
June 13, 2005, 06:12:03 PM
I might have something that would work for you if you want a room?

I own a 2br duplex that does not currently have a renter in the apartment.  It is less than 5 miles from the fairgrounds.  And there is even a garage for 1 car, and off street parking for another 3 cars.  It is in a nice safe neighborhood for parking cars.

It is unfurnished, but does have central air/kitchen/washer dryer/etc.  If you brought air matresses and sheets(or sleeping bags/ cots),  pots and pans if you want to cook, and towels it might work out for you?

You could have it for $150 total for 2-8 people from Thursday to Monday.

Any interest?  Brian.erin???@gmail.com (remove question marks to mail me and I will send phone #)

Also, I am the same user as 54stude, but I could not make that account work.
