Quote from: "enjenjo"Elaborate please. Parts? service? both?frank, they said they would take me to court over this if I made any wrong statements, so gotta watch what I say. Bought a power window kit, complete set of gauges and wiper kit. The salesman said the power window unit will fit the 48 ford great. Wrong, they sell a set that has the same unit for both doors. No left or right both the same. The motor is off set on one side. It fit great on one side ,but the motor hits the outter door skin before the track can line up correctly, They say to turn it backwards on one side. This did not work. Tech/ salesman said it is sold as a universal unit and may not work in all cars. I informed him the ad I read did not say this. His reply was "I did not know what I was doing". Next the wiper unit, installed ok! . But when you turn it on it will not turn off. Just keeps on trucking like that battery powered rabbit till you pull the fuze. In the kit there is a note that the switch is not part of the kit, but is a gift so don't call and complain if it does not work correctly. Take that for what it is worth. Next the guages, the tack won't work with a LS-1 motor, the speedo may or may not work with the 4l60e trans. So I will never use any products they sell. this does not mean anyone else may have the same problems as I do, just ask a few questions before you buy. The tech guy needs to learn alittle about talking to his customers. His response to my problem was it was all my fault. Guess he had a point I was the one who bought them.

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: MM II power rack.
July 03, 2007, 12:24:18 AMQuote from: "47 ragtop"The smaller of the 2 fittings is the high pressure side and is the lower one. The upper fitting( the one closer to the input shaft) is the return side and is the larger
Had it backwards, thanks

Looks great. looks like he's got a lot done too, when are you supposed to have the finished product? He said in about 10 days. According to bill it takes him a couple days to do the trunk, but for what he has in mind, will take a couple extra days

Went down to interior shop today. Here is a shot of the door panel. We talked about the trunk today. I think that sounds like the best part of the interior. He was kinda not telling me everything so am really looking foreward to see what he is going to do about the spare tire.

no there is a 2" air space between the head liner and the roof. He had a foam board of some king and bowed it to fit. This guy really has some talent. Done 3 cars for me now.Not cheap but good.

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Power Window Kits
April 27, 2007, 01:15:46 PMQuote from: "40_Tudor"I need a couple of power window kits for the door glass on my 40 Tudor.
Anyone have anything to say, good or bad, on some of the less expensive universal kits such as Its-A-Snap or others.
Anyone tried the cable type or are the direct drives better?
I've had the door glass cut for no vent windows like a 39.
I have the glass but its to hard holding them up while driving, especially the passengers side.
Also a guy I work with just bought a 41 Willies with a MII suspension and is looking for a set of tubular A-arms that's 1" shorter for more tire clearance.
I know, I know, I keep telling him to offset the rims so he doesn't screw up the geometry but he's determined to run shorter a-arms.
Heidts & Fatmans as 5/8" shorter and they're pretty pricey.
Any suggestions?
What I ended up using was a set from pick a part for 35.00. They were from a hyunda or what ever it is , used the rear one from a 4-door. They have a little bow in the track. bent it over my knee to straighten it out. works great

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Help for a first time painter
April 26, 2007, 11:02:27 PMQuote from: "seadog"It's about time to think about painting my glass Deuce 5 window project. I'd like to paint the underside in my home shop. Once the bottom is in paint I could go ahead and mount the body and finish the rest of the mechanical assembly and wiring. Then, once the bugs are out I'd take it to a pro painter for final body work and paint. How difficult will it be to do the underside at home? I'll have to rent a compressor and gun and cover the walls of my shop. What type of paint works best. I assume it would be a single stage paint, in a dark color. Any thoughts, cautions, or things to be aware of before I dive in will be appreciated.Sorry can't help myself, Looks like your body fell off!!!!!!!!!

Get on e-bay and look up fatrodder or call him at 1-3192324870 . I've used 3 sets from him. best price around and great shipping. I would stay away from its a snap. They only have one side, they send you two of them. If you have plenty of room you can make them fit. The same side does not work on all cars. The salesman said they fit in a 47 ford great. This will be true on one side but the other you would have to mount it on the outside of the car to make it work. Makes it hard to wax the door on that side. The problem is the motor on the bottom of the unit is mounted offset. So to make it work on the other door you have to turn it around and the motor now hits the outside door skin before you can get it lined up with the track. So be sure you get a set that has a left and a right. Which they don't have. Spent 3 days trying to install one side and 30 minutes on the other. Then took them out and sold them. Take heed gentleman.

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: The 47 ford and cow skin
April 18, 2007, 08:47:11 AMQuote from: "rumrumm"I'm looking forward to seeing it, Tom. Your '37 was a real eye-popper.This car is not the quality of my other 3 cars. The kid who worked on it before I got it really had no idea what he was doing. Never planned ahead so things that were done had to be done over. This was his first street rod attempt. Spent a lot of time and money redoing almost everything. Nothing really fits right, the car was put together from several parts cars of different years. Would have been better to pass on this and buy a stocker and do everything myself, OH well, another lesson learned.
This car is one of those cars from hell. Every thing went wrong in the build. The last straw was the paint. Painter used 3 times the paint he should have, alot of dirt in the finnish. A couple big runs in the clear. Was supposed to have the interior done and take it back to him for color sanding 2 more coats of clear and buff out. Went by yesterday to talk to him and shop was closed, seems he left town and went to FLA. in the middle of the night. Can hardly wait to see what will turn up next. Maybe my cow skins will have mad cow and will have to be destoryed.
