Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Let's Talk Seats

Quote from: "40"As I posted in an earlier thread,I'm about ready for the interior in my 36 Ford 5-Window Coupe.I have used Glide seats in the last couple of Coupes that I've done, but at $635 for the frame and foam,I'm thinking donor seat for this car.A few years ago,I used a split bench out of a Ranger pickup in a 37 Coupe and it worked out great....can't remember the year though. It seems it was late 80's.I know there are a few Ranger owners on board so any help will be greatly appreciated.I have a 93 Ranger and it has the high-back seats....not what I'm looking for. Also, any other donor seats that have worked out well for you in a similar coupe??Thanks!!

Daryle.....I bought leather buckets out of a new Cadillac CTS. There is a guy in Western NY who has some type of deal with the Big 3. He gets the seats out of hail damaged, transportation damaged etc. cars.  They were brand new, full power and fit like they were made for my '36. The best part is that they are one of the most comfortable seats my big butt has sat in!

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Power Seat Wiring
June 08, 2004, 03:01:10 PM
Quote from: "MikeC"I just picked-up a set of 97 Suburban 6 way power seats for my 39 Chevy 2-door sedan.  I want to get them mounted but I think I should find the middle position of both forward/back, up/down, etc before mounting.??
The seats have heaters and power lumbar as well as 6-way movement.
The pig tail has 5 wires; 2 Orange, one yellow, a brown and a black.  Can someone give me an idea of what goes to what motor.  I am going to temporarily hook up to my battery quick jump to find the mounting positions.
Thanks for your help.
MikeC
I installed a pair of Cadillac CTS buckets in my coupe. I think they are basically the same as the Suburbans (not sure though). Mike is right, the black is ground and on the drivers side, orange is power. I didn't hook up the heater so I can't help you there. With the ground and the orange connected to power, all positions work.

Quote from: "40"I have been tearing my 35 Ford Coupe apart for a repaint and in the process, realized I am missing the two headlight braces that bolt to the front frame horns up under the fenders and support the headlights. It was restored many years ago and a cover from an electrical junction box was drilled and mounted beneath the fender for support....it looks pretty tacky and I want to replace them with the original braces if I can find them.Just wondering if anyone has a pair laying around or may know of a source to locate them??Another question....I have my 36 Coupe apart as well and though the 36 braces look like they will work, does anyone know if they are the same for sure??Thanks!!
Daryle, if I remember correctly, there are two styles of fender braces for '35's and '36's. There is the shorter one like the one you described and then there is a longer one that runs under the complete width of the fender. Sort of perpendicular  to it. Mac's Antique Auto Parts in Western New York.  I also looked in the Midwest Early V8 catalogue (pg 92) and they carry them at a price of $130 for the pair. Their ph number is 800 543 5035

 Been lurking for a while at RRT. Looks like a great place. Currently a member of other boards but have never given an intro at RRT.
Like many of you, I am a die-hard hot rodder. Have had a few rods over the years; '35 Ford Humpback, 35 Ford 3w coupe, '37 Ford cabriolet, 32 roadster. Current ride is a '36 Ford 5w coupe. Bought it as an original stocker and proceeded to rod the heck out of it. Rebuilt and boxed the chassis, Must II IFS, Ford 9", 454 BBC, 400 Turbo, steelies. Left everything else original intact. Its the ultimate sleeper.  Just put new interior in this winter. Installed seat belts so my kids and I feel safer.
I am also a member of the Roadmates.....one of the oldest car clubs in Canada. We'll be celebrating 50 years in '06.
Honored to say I know hotrodladycruzr and possibly a few others on this board.
