Rodder's Roundtable / PS pump w/ remote res. question...
September 20, 2006, 08:49:12 AM
Alright, let me pose this question to ya'll. I know I'll have 3 lines. #1 from the pump to the rack. #2 from the rack to the res. #3 from the res to the pump. Can I just use fuel injector hose for #2 and #3 and have a high pressure line for #1? I shouldn't need to have high pressure lines for all 3 lines, should I?

Are you suggesting that if I make a spherical or cylindrical tank, that the lines be mounted in the very bottom of the tank? I'm just hunting for ideas.

Rodder's Roundtable / PS pump w/ remote res. question...

I ordered an alan grove ps brkt for my 425 nailhead earlier today. It uses the cavalier style PS pump with the remote resevoir. Is there any significant pressure on this res.? Can I make my own res. or use something I found? Should I get one from a place like Parr or summit?
Thanks

Rodder's Roundtable / Detailing new tires??
August 17, 2006, 12:38:31 PM
My friend Lil' Mike (the midget from Monster Garage) told me that before a car rolls out of their shop (Steve Cook Creations) they grind EVERYTHING off both sides of the tires. He said "If the tire company ain't gonna sponsor us, we ain't advertising for 'em". Wiser words were never spoken.

Congrats. You've gotta keep your self healthy. My dad almost lost his sight a few years back. Luckily, the Docs caught it in time. He couldn't drive for almost 2 years. Now he's learning how to drive again (judging distances and perefial vision being the hardest part for him). He's getting better, but, my mom still won't ride with him. :D

I found a kink in one of my cooler lines this weekend. I guess that's what caused it to start to go away. What kind of improvements can my mech. do to it to boost the perfomance and reliability? I know it'll get a trans-go shift kit, but, other than that, Idon't know. Thanks again, J

Quote from: "Crosley"the t-400 dropping out of gear could be a clogged filter.  If it moves again after sitting for 30 minutes, the filter is clogging up, which is not a good indicator.

a 200-4r built correctly will do fine, but then you probably know that from the HAMB.... some of the answers there are actually correct this time.

Cros, I had one guy tell me about the clogged filter. I called my bud the mechanic and he said the same thing about clogged filter but that it's clogged with clutch material. So, it's time for a rebuild. I think I'm going to rebuild the SP400 after all and change the rear gears.

My Merc is sitting at Salado, TX right this very minute waiting for a friend and I to go rescue it. That tranny kept slipping in and out of gear on the way to Flyrite's. I managed to limp it back to the motel that afternoon and up to Salado the next morning. I'm debating about putting a 200r4 in it. The Merc is way heavy and I was wondering if the tranny could handle the torque that the 425 will put out. What's the pros and cons of that tranny? Should I just rebuild the SP400 that's in it? I really like the idea of a 4th gear. Gimmie some ideas as to what I'm in for on the swap. I know I'm in for a wallet beating with the Bendtsen's adapters and a good rebuild on a 200r4, but, what else?

Quick update: I made 1 phone call and my dad made 1 phone call and I have 2 nice toro rims waiting to be picked up on my lunch hour! I love having friends with huge parts stashes.

More offset from the rally's or from the s-10's? I'll be on the lookout for one of each to try.

thanks Sir, I'll head out to pull-a-part Sat morning to pull a couple and see what damage I can do.

I had heard about the 4x4 s-10 wheels before. Do you know if they are 15"?

I am running a camaro rear end with 15X7 rims on the back of my Merc. I tried to run 225/75/15's. The outside of the tire rubs just a hair on the backside of the fender. I have pounded the upper fender lip out as close to straight as possible. I pulled a 195 65 15 rally rim off my dad's 37 Chev. It cleared the spot where the other tire rubbed but was still really close. Looking up from the bottom, if it went low enough, it would rub. Should I try to run a 205 75 15 or am I going to need a rim with more of a negative offset? I am getting a 205 put on my rim this afternoon and will try it. I really don't think it will help. Does anybody know a steel wheel that will fit the bolt pattern and have a slight neg offset? I have about a week to get this thing back on the road.

I thought that's what rental cars were for?
