I think you are right, the photo of 40 ford bushings looks like it will work. I will have him order the bushings and try them. Thanks!

Rodder's Roundtable / Can you identify this sway bar bushing?
July 27, 2022, 09:13:37 PM
Hi guys,
Wondering if any of you can identify this sway bar bushing style? My brother in law bought the car built, and I have not seen it in person. He is trying to fix a rattle
In an otherwise nice driving 47 ford super deluxe, looks to have a mustang 2 front in it. I cannot identify the bar style, maybe early ford ? See attached photo.
Thanks,
Brian

Rodder's Roundtable / CV Shaft(With Joints) Custom made..Where to get?? Thanks..

Yes, that's a wierd one.
The unique part is probably the shaft, and I wonder if the splines on the standard ones are long enough to shorten the shaft, and cut a new snap ring groove?

July 17, 2016, 09:09:18 PMQuote from: "Beck"Quote from: "54stude"Would a power glide and a pump drive work?I have never heard of this. How do they launch? Hard / soft / on or off the throttle?
http://www.tciauto.com/tc/powerglide-adjustable-front-pump-drivehtml/
Would it be light enough without a torque converter?
The biggest problem with a glide is the high first gear. In the 350 turbo that is currently in it I have a 3.75 low gear. The Saginaw 3 speed I am looking at has a 3.54 gear.
With a 1.82 low gear in the powerglide and 7.00 rear gears I would have a 55 mph tire speed. That is too high. I need to be able to get down to 40 at least.
Normally these are used for circle track use, and they put a hydraulic valve in place to bleed off pump pressure when you don't want the transmission to be engaged. Some are hooked to a clutch pedal, but you could use a lever also.
You would use the valve to ease it into moving forward, and probably not mess with it until forward progress is stopped.
Not sure if it will work for you, just an idea.

Rodder's Roundtable / Daily driver won't start

My guess is low fuel pressure. It cannot get quite rich enough to start.
Have you replaced the fuel filter? Start there.
If that is done, you may have a weak pump, or the hose in the tank between the pump and the mount mah have a problem.
I had an 89 k1500 with a 350 that did what you are describing, and the short piece of hose had a plastic band clamp on it which slipped off of the pump, so the hose was "against the pump", but not slipped over it. It ran decent like this, but would not start.
Btw, if you have to service the pump, just pull off the box instead of dropping the tank, it is easier.
Good luck!

Rodder's Roundtable / Need a light weight transmission

Could you use a marine out drive like a "velvet drive"? Either in a 1:1 ratio forward and back, or the ratio you want?
http://www.velvetdrive.com/techinfo/V7172/V7172pg1.pdf
If you find a boat grave yard these could be cheap used, look for a rotten wood cruiser with a chevy v8 and unbolt all the stuff behind the motor.

Rodder's Roundtable / Question about wheel offset 46 chevy sedan,camaro front/rear
January 19, 2014, 10:03:34 PM
I am trying to help out my brother in law with a well selection.
He has a 46 chevy with a camaro front and rear in it, and a 350/350 drivetrain. He got it with Fenton 14" torque thrust style steel/aluminum wheels, and two of them are cracked and need replacing. The fentons have about 3 1/4" of backspace.
I think he wants to go with 15x7 in front and 15x8 in the rear. Possibly 205-75-15 tires in front, and 235-75-15 tires in the rear.
My question is about wheel offset. He likes the way that the wheel vintiques painted smoothie wheels look, and the web site lists the wheel offset on their 15" wheels as the ones below.
The 15x6 have 3 5/8" backspace, and the 15x7 and 15x8 each have 4" backspace.
Can anyone make a recommendation on what will fit? Anyone have a similar setup?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Brian

Rodder's Roundtable / Lenco welder
October 20, 2010, 12:15:30 AM
That welder "looks" similar to a millermatic 35 welder.
Miller made some welders for Airco, and I wonder if this is also the case with this Lenco? Does it take a miller gun? made in Appleton wi?
The miller website has free manual downloads if it ends up being a miller product.
Good luck,
Brian

Rodder's Roundtable / Garage floor paint
August 06, 2010, 09:28:33 PM
Look at dura-poxy on this site.
http://www.concrete-floor-coatings.com/
I helped a friend do his garage floor, and I think this product is the way I would go if I was to coat my own garage floor.
This product is clear, and 100% solids, and after you roll it out wet, you "toss" granules of quartz on it and let it dry. Then you sweep off the floor, and bury the granules in more 100% solids epoxy. So as you use the floor, it gains traction if you can understand that. It is a thick coating, and has stayed on the floor for a few years now of hobby car work and parking daily.
A 24x30 floor was 700-800 in materials, but it seems to be a good and permanent solution to the garage floor coating question you asked about.
