I would recommend installing the different tranny and measuring for drive shaft length with the vehicle at ride height.

Might avoid some problems.

plus the question about the length of the T-400 tail shaft as mentioned.

Thanks for your response Tony. I know what you're suggesting is the right thing to do. It's too critical of an operation to cut corners for the sake of time.

Can anyone please give the difference in overall length between the 700R4 transmission and the 400? If not the dimension difference, perhaps the length of the 400, bellhousing face to the end of the tail. (The 700R4 is on the floor.)

I would like to be able to have the drive shaft shortened (lengthened?) before replacing the 400 with the 700R4 and having to measure after the 400 is out, saving some time.
