The front clip is one of the last things to go on, so put them up out of the way. I think it is garage art but some say "* for car guys"

Rodder's Roundtable / New stuff!
October 15, 2015, 12:22:38 AM
Lookin good. Nice door gaps and overall sitting right. Can't quite like the big truck front fenders though. Maybe the young guns with the slammed look will go for it. And appreciate your updates, keeps us all motivated to get something done.

Rodder's Roundtable / What are you doing today?
July 20, 2015, 12:06:55 AM
Just got back from the meltdown and can't get the pics off the phone and onto the home cpu. Usually use the work one ??
Wild time, stinkin humid hot but the raw testosterone of the event had everyone smiling despite the sweat. Yes saw Hooley perform and those southeast gassers do a great show. Best part was the laid back layout where you could just go up and talk with the guys anytime. Met Ohio George, Ed Isky and Bones ...lotta history there.

Rodder's Roundtable / LT1 fuel questions
June 30, 2015, 09:55:52 PM
Yes as previously posted, the water pump will be a problem, they don't like to sit especially on this LT1. Kinda pricey, but there is a rodder who has a good kit.
Otherwise a great motor, had a 96 SS Impala, very strong. I would run it as is.

A little too pretty for me but I can appreciate the perfection and craftsmanship.

The two tiny little toy motors that came on it still work, but the plastic gears are toothless.
I was assuming a starter motor would not heat up as it is a small load and so will draw little current Any guess on the rpm of a starter motor so I can belt drive it accordingly for little kids ?

Scooters at Walmart for $100 I will check that although I never normally go there.
And uncle Ian, yes will get that controller. Plan on a small 12 battery (lead acid or gel) and a 12V starter, probably Ford type as it has no solenoid. Will need to mill a keyway in the starter shaft.

Have enough projects already, trying to make this one quick and those gears made a speed of "less then walking". Even the two year old thought it was too slow.
What starter ?

Thanks, lots of good info. Am looking at the pulse width modulator for speed control but still need a potentiometer to tie to the throttle pedal.
The motors that were on it were from the power wheels and the plastic gears are now toothless. Thus the search for improvement. The chassis and body (hand laid fiberglass) are very well built and cool so will use them as is.
Golf cart is way too much power / torque and heavy.
Wheelchair stuff is pricey.
Need a short, small 12V car starter And add the pulse controller to it.

want to keep it electric and 12 volt, so the wheelchair or scooter is where I'll be looking. Not familiar with golf carts but I'd expect that to be a big motor. Need advice on the speed control.
Or if a starter, what is the easiest to mount and without a solenoid and simple to add a belt type pulley?

Rodder's Roundtable / lil hot rod

Frank can tell me if this should be posted elsewhere, but it is a hot rod..I think. A retired Tucson circle track guy made one for his grandkids and word got out, he made more and so I got the last one, the 12th. I call it a scaled down sprint car but he says it was called a roadster What you would see at Manzanita in the early 70's.
Anyway the kids wore out the tiny toy car electric motors in a few days so I need to re motor it. Thinking of a car starter and a pulse modulated motor controller and a small gel cell 12V battery. Grandkids are 5 down to 2 so it doesn't need to be fast. Motor and battery need to be behind the seat so not a lot of room.
Suggestions ?

Rodder's Roundtable / wheel tubs for my Coupe

The rolled over edge looks about an inch and the welded on strip about 3 inches. Did you overlap them or butt them? Looks like mig tacks, is it ? Will you finish weld with mig or ?
