Man that's cool Frank!!  I can see she is on cloud nine. As others have said Shelby will always remember this and she couldn't have picked a better car.  It's been a while since I have seen a picture of her , boy has she grown up fast, where has time gone.  Who had the bigest smile ,grandpa or Shelby when that picture was taken?  Any way I hope she had fun at the prom.

Rodder's Roundtable / I lost a good friend today
December 19, 2010, 08:45:18 PM
Rick,  Gail and I are sorry to hear of your loss of a true friend.  We know the time will come some day, but we never are prepared. It hits hard.  I think about you a lot but just don't seem to have much time lately to keep in touch like I would like to and time seems to go by too fast.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Tom's family. He will be greatly missed.

Rodder's Roundtable / Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas from our house to yours !!  You guys are right about the weather, we have over a foot of the dreaded white crap and it's still comming down with winds around 40 mph. Had to go out last night to try and find someone that was lost in the blizzard, busted through drifts higher than the hood on my pickup and tree limbs hanging down because of all the ice.  We all had certain roads to check and it took over two hours to go twelve miles round trip but the person was found and we were glad to get back home.  We are having our Christmas Sunday when the snow quits, this sure will be one to remember.

Yes, congrats Charlie!!  It's awsome to see someone you know of but maybe not personally get this honor of being in print!  His workmanship really stands out in the coverage of the pages of Streetrodder.  I just hope when I finally get our 40 on the road it's half as good as Charlie's.  Again congrats and well done!!!

Rodder's Roundtable / GoodGuys Des Moines

Hi Lynn,  you don't know how much we would like to be there to see all you this year as it's been a while, but we are way behind at work crop spraying because of the rain we are getting lately. If the weather is good we will be spraying every day we can and our youngest son is tring to get his motor back together for his race car so he can race that Saturday night in Harlan.  I have only made it to one night of racing this year because of work, oh if I could just hit the powerball  jack pot   I'd have more time.  Tell everyone hi from us and hope the weather is super nice for you guys to enjoy the weekend in Des Moines.  Charlie I hope you have a good day selling at the swapmeet, it sure would have been cool to meet you since you will be this close in our part of the world.  Ya all have a good time and don't do anything I wouldn't enjoy

Well since it rained Saturday we can't go racing or work in the fields, I think installing the fifth wheel I got for the new to me pickup to pull the camper we got last September is on the agenda for this morning. The do some more work on Andy's sport mod race car as it's not ready to race yet. hopefully it will be a productive day.

Yup those Hurst Olds sure had the style then. 8)  I know that when I was in high school I would have given just about anything to have one and they are still just as impressive now as they were back then.

Rodder's Roundtable / Tractor grill
April 08, 2009, 01:43:15 AM
yup, that's a farmall grill. The slot next to the bottom is a give away for sure, and the two round holes near the top were for cultivator brace rods. You will find more Farmall grills missing the insert at the bottom than ones with them. I had an H for my first tractor. That one pictured looks to be in decent shape. if you want the insert I may be able to get one here in town just let me know the length and highth as the Farmall M grill looks the same only slightly bigger all around. I can check on a price for either one if you want, only takes a free local phone call.

Yup, Knoxville is always a great one to take in.  Our youngest son Andrew went there a couple years ago and had the best time of his life.  After the race he went in the pits and was given a rear tire from Strve Kinser. Andrew is making a rim to mount it and make an end table for his room.  Have a good time in Knoxville and have a safe trip there and back home.

Rodder's Roundtable / Need a good mig welder
August 19, 2007, 02:55:45 AM
Thanks everyone for your input. It will help in geting a good welder for what I want to use it for.  I've used stick welders for a long time, Lincolns and Forneys with very good results and have used a mig at work a little and find it much easier to use, and since I scored a motor and tranny for our 40 I need to get going on it and get the motor and tranny mounts welded in before harvest starts.  With some luck I just might get it on the road by the time my bday in July rolls by. It may not be in paint then but I should be able to run it down the road and I can't wait!!!   Thanks again for your input it means a lot!!!

Rodder's Roundtable / Need a good mig welder
August 15, 2007, 11:28:35 PM
I need to get a good mig welder, I don't have much experience with one and have been looking at the Millermatic 140 auto set and the millermatic 180 and the Hobart handler187.  I want to use it on small gauge sheet metal up to quarter inch steel.  I like the simplicity of the 140 auto set but don't know if it is big enough for quarter inch material, and they have a 50 dollar rebate right now. I just don't know what way to go. I was wondering if some of you have had any experience with any of these?  I am not going to use it every day like a welding shop would but still want a good quality one that will work when I want it to.  Thanks for any help.

Quote from: "Charlie Chops 1940"Bill,

Maybe get a picture or two?

Charlie

Charlie,  Sorry for taking so long to get the pics, here are three I took Saturday night as soon as he got to the track.  Rod mounted them just inside the tires and uses a ratchet strap looped over the rear axels hooked to a ring attachment to the E track that is moveable for whatever wheelbase car you want to haul.  Sorry for getting Rods backside in the pic but he was late getting to the track and was just getting his car unloaded.

Rod said they are easy to install, just make sure you get the back bolts in the very back cross members and then find the other cross members going forwardand use bolts and then just fill in the other mounting holes with heavy duty screws.  Speedway has the tracks in vertical and horizontal in 3,5,and 7 foot lengths  and tie off adaptors rated at 3500 lbs each, they also have the tie down straps in any configuring you want.

Hope this helps, if ya need any more info just give me a shout.
