Rodder's Roundtable / T-400 question
August 25, 2024, 09:05:13 PM
Howdy everyone

I have a th400 trans and it has the bolt in u-joint on the tail housing.  I learned these were truck transmissions.  Can I just unbolt that u joint and slide it out.....then slide in a normal th400 slip yoke?
Thanks in advance

Quote from: "UGLY OLDS"Very sad to hear Tony... Any idea what prompted him to do that  :?:   As KB said ....I hope all is well with him ..... :?

Bob..

I do not know the whole story.

Glen is very busy with his job - career at this point.  Some of us joke that Glen works 32 hours a day , 8 days a week.

I was told by Glen that he would not change a thing  with how things are going for him right now.  That is the most important item. I wish him the best.

Glen is a 150% guy.  What ever he works at , it is 150% of his best effort

His friendship is something I value a great deal

so I have not been on here in probably 8 months.
two years ago I was talking with steve morris on another engine build, 4000HP plus twin turbo and I told him on Friday I would
call him Monday morning with a yes or no.  Over the weekend I told myself I needed to chill out and quit being irresponsible.

I joined a gym and lost 85 lbs. of fat and got down to 170 lbs.  feeling good and looking better I started travelling a lot
and enjoying some of the finer things in life.    I then started focusing more on weight lifting and really got addicted to it.
I don't know if you know this or not....but sometimes I go overboard on things

six years ago my career took a huge leap in advancement and now this year my mentor retired so I took his position and another big leap forward.  A great opportunity and I'm the luckiest guy in the world.

so here I am at home and I jump on here to see whats been happening and I find this conversation.  Thanks for the kind words.  I ran the car last March for the $5k grudge race im sure i shared it.....and never drove it again, I sold it back in October.  I sold all of the racing equipment, tow vehicles etc.

I really have no interest in cars right now....but i didn't sell the equipment yet.

thanks we took the car out again Saturday in 90 degree weather and made two more identical passes in the heat of the day.  1.13 60 ft. and 4.65 in the 1/8th.

the car is working very well.  I need a cool evening to try to better the 7.16

Quote from: "Glen"Tony......Now you just need some of that silicon bronze tig rod to weld that in.

the rod is easy to get.

I dont own  a tig machine.

I dont know how to use a tig machine.

I know a guy that would be more than happy to weld it in.....especially if you have it all cut and ready to go in?   :D

Ya I pull about 400hp out for 2 seconds and amp it in by half track

Definitely need more wheel speed with the wider tire.

race against a radial turbo car.

Quote from: "idrivejunk"Man that is fast. How's it feel on the satisfaction dyno? Congrats and be careful and... go fast!

its the highest of highs.....and the lowest of lows.  That video I posted last month was 3 passes in a row of spinning the tires.  To come out and do it right last night was huge.

Quote from: "UGLY OLDS"GOOD on you , Glen .... 8)  :b-d:

No more problems with the "wiggles" like last time ????

Bob..

straight as an arrow with the exact same chassis setup as that video where it was spinning on the starting line.....it was definitely the transmission failure that was causing the spin.

Ran a 7.16 last night at 195 MPH.  My old best was 7.25

Ran 3 passes 1/8 mile during the streetcar takeover at 4.64 each pass.
best 60ft 1.131

At the end of the night I had a $5k grudge race against a radial tire car and won that race.  It was hype for the event and I gave the money back to the driver.

car is leaving very nice.....im sure there will be some youtube videos and I will come back here and post them.

I knew you ran a nasty Nova, but I had not been keeping up. I had not seen any of your videos before. Nice to put a car and face with one of the guys here helping me out.

I'm IMPRESSED!
