Quote from: "chimp koose"Nice toys! The bumper corners on the 40 look different,is that an option or an add on from another car?

Thank you. Those  bumper ends were an option for 1940 Fords. Part # 01A-18383. $2.75 each in 1940. They were on the car when I bought it. Photo attached. Bob Drake sells them

Quote from: "Grandadeo"Hey Jimmerc, would you happen to be 19fordy over on the Ford Barn?  When I saw this tread I was going to suggest you contact him.  But when I looked up some of your previous posts to figure out where you were down here in Sunny Florida I saw that you also have a '40 Ford.  Could there be two guys in Florida lucky enough to have both a '40 Ford and a '51 Merc?  If it is you I'm the guy that bought the pair of stock Merc wheels from you a while back.

Lee

Yes Lee, I am  the same  guy as Fordbarn and the wheel seller too. Hope you are well and your project is coming along and that the wheels worked out ok for you.  Have a  nice  July 4.  Raining  hard here.  jim

:D Anyone know where I can get  steel lower rear quarters for my 51 Merc? There's a company making  them for 49-50 Mercs, but not 51. Thanx. jim

 I am  am a high school shop teacher - since 1967. Next year is my last. They will be closing down my wood and metal shop and putting in one of those "TECH LABS" where the kids use computers and  don't get dirty. I would love to have the  lathes, mills, bandsaws, welders etc. that will get thrown out. Wonder where kids will learn to work with their hands?
Hope to be working on my 51 Merc. convert. :D

 Lincoln Versialles rears are vastly overpriced and over rated. Type the words   9 inch Ford into your  computer search box and you will get tons of tech info. :P

Tech Archive / Fender Welting Installation

I just installed  rear fenders with new welting on my Fordy coupe. Keep welting dry. If that silicone your  using is glue, it might pull the paint off when you remove the fenders again.

Quote from: "40"In the past I have installed mine dry as well but a while back I was at a shop where the guy used a light coat of silicone, after cutting it to fit,he attached it to the fenders and let the silicone set up over night. He then installs them the next morning and says it works well and everything lines up perfectly....he is a one man shop so his way eliminates the need for a second set of hands. He says it comes off easily if an adjustment is needed.....I think I will try it when I re-assemble the 36....Good Luck!
