Rodder's Roundtable / shop lights

I replaced my 8' tubes with LED's from Greenlightdepot.com. Had to rewire to bypass the ballast but it was easy. They also sell decals to put on the rewired fixtures so that someone will not put the wrong type bulbs in them again.

I have install several units and I believe the VA is the best one for most cars. Space is an issue with some of their units but you just can't beat their customer service. The last unit I installed I managed to break one of the rheostats, my fault and I told them that and they still replaced it at no cost.

I have a big car (61 Starliner) and the A/C cools well even in the Texas heat. The heat does not work very well but I do not blame the VA unit, for some reason when I turn on the heater the water temperature drops down to about 145 and so you do not get enough heat to do much good. Have not needed heat all that much here so finding out what causes the issue has not been a priority.

Rodder's Roundtable / For the 60's Ford guys
July 05, 2013, 10:39:09 PM
I use the Flow master "Hushpower" type muffler on my 61 Galaxie. I originally had them mounted in the stock position and I thought they were not loud enough for me so I had them mounted ahead of the axle! Big mistake! Now they rap real bad under acceleration and are just annoying.

I plan to move them back to the rear sometime soon.

Only issue is that they are quiet expensive at about $150 each, or were when I purchased mine several years ago.

You can visit the flow master site and they have audio clips of their mufflers you can listen to but they are not on  bib block Fords?

If you do purchase the HF one you can get parts for it and even upgrade it by using pieces from TP tools. The carry a lot of blasting equipment.

I have found that it works for me to purchase a "naked" tool from one of the sites that sell them that way. or even ebay. Then purchase a battery seperately. Usually the combination comes in under $100.

If I buy a Harbor Freight battery powered tool I go right to a place like Batteries + and get them to make me a battery. Some of the Harbor Freight Battery tools are very good but their batteries are just awful and are not worth having.

Is that a Trans Am nose piece grafted to 41 ford?

Rodder's Roundtable / Conroe Swap Meet

I went today, a lot of stuff there but like most meets there was not much Ford stuff there.
The place was so disorganized it was very difficult to find you way around.

I use both products and find one works better for some applications and the other may work better for other applications.
I like the POR-15 in areas where it needs to really get down into a very small space or crack and I use it to do the inside of frames where I can spray it.
I like the rust bullet on flat surfaces especially where rust pits are present as it is thicker and will build better. It is also much easier to put up with its odors.

A new product (at least to me) is a product by KBS coatings called Rust seal. It works more like POR-15 in that is is relatively thin when applying so it gets into more of the nooks and crannies but unlike POR-15 it is VOC compliant, it can be applied over clean metal as well as rusty and it is somewhat more UV resistant although it will still need to be over coated to provide color fastness. It also comes in 8 different colors.

I have only used it once so far but I may start using it for all my work if it looks like ti is going to hold up well.

Rodder's Roundtable / Terminal corrosion-battery
August 24, 2010, 09:27:54 PM
I am told that excessive corrosion could be a sign of a weak ground somewhere in the system. You might try adding additional grounds between the engine and chassis and the body and the chassis and just see if it helps?

There is a guy that is always advertising a power steering box for a 55-57 ford. It is supposed to be a direct bolt on box but you do need to provide the steering shaft and rag joint.
From what I remember it is priced right as well.

Rodder's Roundtable / AD Chevy truck seat
June 29, 2010, 05:45:41 PM
They wear out quicker because they operate the motors each time the car is started and turned off. Even though you may not use this feature the seats did go through that cycle from its previous life.

Rodder's Roundtable / Any A/C experts ?
June 19, 2010, 10:36:08 PM
I had that same issue with my unit and found that the belt (I only have one on it) was bottoming out in the v grove and let the compressor slip at speed.
Just something to check?

I have no issue with Ryan or the traditional nature of the Hamb, however I do not care to see the whole tone of street rodding going traditional.

I am also glad that someone took over the operation of the Ford Barn but to say that it would be dead if not for Ryan is simply not true! There were several parties interested in taking over and operating the board although I have to assume that Ryans proposal was the most acceptable to the old board administration?

I enjoy reading the posts on the HAMB and have been a member through at least three major board revisions but rarely post there. I just do not agree with the overall tone of a minority of the membership and they tend to spoil the experience for me. But that is just me and my choices.

Sure happy for them that they don't have to rely on my support. When they shot the street rod section they lost me.
There was already one HAMB board and I sure don't see any reason to kill something else just to garner support for more HAMB type BS.
