As I have said before I am building a 32' 3-window with a blown small block. It stime for the radiator purchase and I need advise. I used a walker in a deuce roadster with great success. I used a PRC aluminum radiator in my 34' coupe and I never liked how fast it heated up and it always seemed to run hotter than I wanted it to. Never overheated but I don't like running at 210. It had the same cooling components fan on both radiators so I know that air flow was the same. So my question is to all that have built many more rods than I have what is the best radiator make and material to use? I am ready to order either a walker of a Griffin. Help me out guys and gals.

Rodder's Roundtable / Blower Motor Exhaust

Well I am actually running what i know is not the most efficient setup. Camel back 2.02 heads that have been updated with good springs, hardened seats, bronze guides..you know the usual. They are however heavily worked in the ports and the bowls and they flowed very well on a flow bench here in town. Still not like a set of Darts or whatever but its all I have and the motor runs really good right now as is. I plan to update the heads next summer but I need to get the car out and driving so I need to get started on an exhaust system for this car. (the motor came out of my dad's 56 belair) I hope that clears things up a little more.

I defintly will have them coated. Having worked for HPC in the past I know all the advantages of thermal coatings. Thanks for the tip.

Rodder's Roundtable / BFGoodrich

Unfortunatly for me I am having the body and chassis built out of state and the builder needed the wheels and tires ASAP so I have 195/60-15 BFG's on the front 29 x 12.5 Hoosier Pro STreet Radials on the back. Mismatch I know but at least I will have some height on the rear tire. I will look into coopers later on. As far as Coker goes I called them and they said they didn't have any  of the 285's so it must be what sales dude you talk to. Oh well, just wanted to get the word out.

Rodder's Roundtable / BFGoodrich

Well after an almost tireless search and endless backorders I have found out that BFGoodrich is no longer making the venerable 285/70-15 radial T/A. I have been trying to get a pair of these for 3 months and Summit finally said that BFGoodrich wasn't planning on making them again. So there goes another perfect highboy rear tire. First the Sport Truck T/A and now the 285's. I hate the fact that we are going to be forced to use 16" and bigger rims. Anyway I will get off my soapbox now. Have a great weekend all!

Ok guys here's my dilema. I am bulding a 32' 3-window highboy that will have a blown 327 and a 5 speed. Having delt with blower motors in the past I know exhaust header primary size is crucial. 99% of street rod headers ve it over the frame sprint car style or block huggers all have 1 5/8" primaries. I have always been told to use 1 3/4" tubes. Does anyone think I can get away with the 1 5/8" tube headers for driver street car? 327 cid, 6-71 weiand, 10% underdriven, big cam (too big for an automatic). Any help will be greaty appreciated! Thank you.

Rodder's Roundtable / Another one lost

I joined the message board specifically to recognize my dear friend Don Palfreyman. Having been around hot rods since birth I have got to know a lot of guys in this hobby and Don was most certainly one of the best I ever met. I had the pleasure of traveling from Utah to Pleasanton, CA in 02' with my just finished deuce roadster and that is where I met this giant of a man and instantly became friends. Don was a guy that always would shake your hand when you would see him and he never forgot a name. His big smile and deep laugh will always be in my heart and memories. I became a Goodguys Redders Rep because of Don. He was a great inspiration and I miss him so much. We talked often and I really regret not calling him on Christmas as I had planned. We in Utah have known that he only had a short time for quite awhile but we were not prepared for his passing. Please keep posting your stories of this great man. He will never be forgotten in the hearts of some of us. Thank you for giving me this place to let off some of my feelings. I am sad and struggling to get through. God Bless my fallen friend!
