Rodder's Roundtable / New interior for my 47

Yes Denise it is. That is the same stuff that is used on the couch in my family room that we have had for 6 years and still looks great. I am hoping for the same here.
I just wanted something a little different than the same ultra leather that everyone uses for the whole thing.

Thanks for all the positive comments. This is something I have wanted to do for a few years now. I am glad it is turning out better than my expectations. I was never worried about the guy doing the work. You know how sometimes you just get so used to what is there that planning something new can get you all tied in knots? Should be done next week. I'll post more pics then

Rodder's Roundtable / New interior for my 47

I decided somewhat on a whim that my 47 needed a new interior. The old one was still in decent shape, especially for being done in 1991!! But the old tweed had to go. So on Thanksgiving weekend I ripped it all out. While the car was somewhat apart I eliminated the vent windows and installed one piece door glass with power assist from NuRelics.
I bought a Glide seat and started to try and plan a new look. I wanted something somewhat classic with a little bit of a modern flair. The way I look at my car, it has been modernized and yet still retains the classic look of a 1947 Ford.
We are using 57 Chevy arm rests, 52 Pontiac int. door trim(lower) and 55 Buick int. door trim(upper) I am having it done in Ultra Leather and Ultra suede.
I hope you all like it.

January 26, 2007, 10:50:55 AM
I forgot that he had the web site...thanks for posting the link.
This is not Alsa paint. I have seen that. And while it is ok it has a grayish shading to it.

Rodder's Roundtable / Chrome on Non-metallic Items?

For anyone who is interested I can put you in touch with my friend. His name is Mike Miranda. He runs Lucky's Chrome Shop here in CT.
This is all done with paint. It is not like PPG or Dupont. I don't off the top of my head know the company name but it is not a product that the average guy can go to a local auto paint supply store and buy. There is a lot of training that goes along with it. I have seen what he has done and it is really cool. While the quality is not quite the same as sending something to Advanced Chrome plating. You have to understand that it is just paint. However, I think most hot rodders would be amazed what he can do. I have sen him do everything from the hubcaps on his shoebox custom ( yes he is a car guy) to bolling pins to a wood mallet. He is able to chrome things that you would otherwise not be able to do.

Rodder's Roundtable / Chrome Batwing Air-Cleaner

If you have any interest.... You could buy the plastic/ fiberglass one and I have a friend that can "paint" it chrome. He sprays anything from wood to metal to import car front bumpers and small dash knobs etc in chrome. It actually looks really nice.
Anyone interested let me know and I can put you in contact with him.

Congrats on getting the trailer. I'm sure you will have a great time and you will probably think that all this stress was well worth it once you are there and all set up.
Good luck in the show. Take pics and post some.

Dave,
Good luck getting in the show. I hope you are able to find a trailer. If I were you I would trailer the car as well. March in Detroit, you never know. My dad and I drove our 55 Chevy from Ct to Boston for the world of wheels show back in '88. We spent 8 hours cleaning the car after the drive. Our biggest problem was the blizzard that hit the east coast over the week end. That was a scary drive and dirty drive home. I never wished I had an enclosed trailer so bad in my life.
