I would like some suggestions/advice on how to help a friend.

Here is the story, I worked with a young man when I lived in Indiana.  His dad past away a couple of years back,  he and I have stayed in touch via e-mail/Facebook etc.  He commented and noticed my interest in cars.  It seems his dad was a drag racer back in the day.  Raced a Chevy II.  My buddy has told me on several occasions that the barn at the family house is filled with car parts.  He sent pictures to me last night.  The pictures and some description is included.

My friend is not a car guy.  He knows that parts have value but not sure what kind of value.  He wants to sell the parts but does not want to get ripped off, because it's his dads parts.. blah, blah.  He is looking to me for some help/advice.

The parts are located in Central Indiana.

Take a look.  Lots of blocks, cranks, heads etc..

Let me know what you think.

How can I help him .. HAMB classifieds? -- EBAY  Craigs List.. what?

Pictures to follow

Rodder's Roundtable / Hood Question, Hinges 58 Chevy
October 29, 2010, 07:36:43 PM
Hi all,

Long time no chat.

Question about hoods and hinges.

The tuna boat has always had a bad hood, weak, bent etc..

I finally found and bought a replacement, got it painted and installed.

My body guy buddy and I installed the hood, using the existing hinges.  We adjusted etc.. but the rear of the hood, close to the windshield still does not sit flush when the hood is closed.  The rear of the hood sticks up.  Worse on one side then the other.

We can't make it any better.  A couple people have looked at it and suggested new hinges.

I hate to just swap out parts "hoping" it will fix problems.

What do you all think? Any suggestions, thoughts.

Second question, I have found no luck, so far, finding another set of hinges.  I did find a set of hinges from a 58 Buick.  Any thoughts on whether they are the same hinges as the 58 Chevy Biscayne?

Thanks All

Bob............

Those wheels are .. well... yeah.. need to be changed... docking space ... good idea on the measure.

So..... the Tuna boat is not quite big enough for the wife.. as you all know.. size matters

She is lobbying for a Caddy convertible.. after all we live in Florida where there is two kinds of people, newlyweds and nearly deads...

So... I am liking the 64.. she is kinda leaning to the 68.. basically they are the same price... what are you thoughts...

Quote from: "purplepickup"Thanks for the pics.  Looks like a nice place to have a show and I like the mix of different types of cars too.

The '58 is looking good.  Aren't you glad you didn't sell it?  Did you manage to get the boat you wanted?

No I did not get a boat,  I already got one,     why would I need another.

Thanks for all the nice comments.  I will try to be a little more active on the board now that the work thing has settled down.

Great to be Back!
