The car show you're thinking about is the "Early Iron" show on Labor Day weekend. They do screen entries, I believe. Our event isn't a "show" per se, more like a family reunion on wheels kinda vibe. I put up more info on the FAST FRIENDS site.

I know it's early, but I figured I'd let everyone know, so they could check their calendars.  :D  FAST FRIENDS, the charity I started, is putting on the 1st Annual Hot Rod Homecoming on July 12, 2008 in Alamosa, CO at the county fairgrounds. It's open to everyone, whatever they drive (or ride). Bikes, cars, trucks, whatever.   It's a fundraiser to help out families of really sick kids in the area. There will be a poker run, then a blessing of the cars/bikes in the arena with an Indian medicine man presiding, a full-blown motorcycle rodeo, a fun gymkhana for the cars, games for the kids, games for the adults, live music all day, great food, prizes, fun for the entire family. If we get a large enough response early, a local bar says they'll bring in a band for an after-event dance.  :!:

All FAST FRIENDS events are family-friendly, and kids are encouraged. We don't sell beer at our events for that reason, but discreet drinking in the parking lot, etc. will be ignored, unless it becomes a problem.    Our events are geared towards having FUN! The Winter Wipeout on March 1 was a great success, due partly to generous members of the HAMB donating artwork, time, and effort. We firmly believe this event on July 12 will be a blast, and hope some of you will decide to check it out. Any clubs want to come up? We'll make a travelling trophy for the club with the most members present. There will be vendor spaces available, and great food all day. a couple pinstripers have expressed an interest in setting up in the fairgrounds, too. Anyone wanting more info, wanting to perform, rent vendor space, whatever, call me or email me. I'll respond asap.  :D

Hell, I've raced stock cars for so long that a little jog in the wall doesn't scare me...................

Thanks for the info, guys. I knew I'd need the computer, but wasn't sure which/how many of the sensors I'd need.I really appreciate the input. I need something that gets decent-good mileage for long trips, so I can get out on the road more. They're talking about building a dragstrip here, so I'll probably put deep gears and a four-speed in my Plymouth and use the Rambler for my daily.

Quote from: "Animal"I got a '96 Camaro given to me. The owner says someone tried to steal it, and got the wiring all screwed up. He had to replace the steering column because of damage, and still can't figure out the VATS (?) deal.  :( So he gave it to me, and I'm thinking of putting the V6/5 speed in a '60 Rambler American 2dr. I've gotten some advice about getting the original wiring harness pared down, and just thought I'd see if there was an electrical genius-type here who might have a different idea. I want to be able to run a simple switch panel, etc. while running the MPFI for mileage and decent performance.

ask the orignal owner if he has a copy of the original before it was stolen key...   there is a resister pellet in it... that had to be measured... and a 1/8 ohm resister that matches that measurement inserted into the vats circut... there are 15 differnt values... and it take 4  minutes between each try before the engine will run...

if you want the vats to work and you installed the column   the new key that was installed does not have a pellet  but it did turn the lock cylinder.. the locksmith uset measures the old resister . selects a proper resister blank. and cuts the key from the non vats blank to the new vats blank...vats blank are about 10 bucks each wholesale.. 20 at a lock shop ..

a variable resister and an ohm meter will usually get it started...after several hours of trying...

Wow. Thanks for the info. That is why I came here. Now, is there anyway to just take that system out of play? If I put the engine & trans in the Rambler, I just want the bare minimum of wiring to do the job. Just an ignition/start switch, a couple gauges, and lights. Is that do-able? I really like the idea of the MPFI, and think it would be a sweet package, if I can get all the extraneous stuff removed from the wiring.

Yeah, I wanted a gasser,or comp-style flavor, but to be able to drive it as my daily. When I first saw the car, I thought it would look great with the radiused wheelwells. So when I got it home, that was the first thing I did, before I chickened out   The headers are capped and routed through 2 1/2" duals and Flowmasters. It's not loud that way, but when un-capped, it's pretty rowdy sounding.

The plan for now is to get it weathertight (no glass in passenger door), build a grille for it, put the other seat, belts, insulation and heater in it, then drive the snot out of it and make sure it's ready to go for the HAMB drags in August. After that, I may paint it, ornot. I may enjoy this thing so much I won't want to leave it down long enough for body/paint.

That was one of the reasons I chose to build this car.........that, and I really like the lines of the body. :D

That's cool! Back in late '84, I was driving a moving truck south on I-95 south of Daytona when I saw this kick-* light hauling * upwards into the night sky........turned out it was a shuttle launch. Very frickin' cool! :D

I took my '56 Plymouth out for a shakedown cruise, and everything went great. The car runs like stink an drives better than I'd hoped. The Chrysler subframe w/ disc brakes and torsionbars is worth the hassle, and the 440/TF727 pulls like a *. The car is in the shop, making it legal so I can drive it as a daily. :D

I live about 150 miles southeast of Pueblo now, in a town of about 100 people, about 20 miles north of Alamosa.
