Tech Archive / Stabilizer bar needed on M II front?
March 10, 2004, 09:54:07 AM
Thanks for the tech info Bob. I always understood you should use the same size swaybar on rear as front, but I don't have the racetrack experience you have.
This will save some aggravation of getting the wrong swaybar and then getting another to replace the first. Better to listen to someone who has already been there and understands the dynamics instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.
The older I get the smarter my father, or anyone that's been around longer, gets.
You've given your expert opinion on a couple of my posts before. I'm headed in the right direction, just running off the berm once in a while.
Thanks again Bob for the redirection.

Tech Archive / Stabilizer bar needed on M II front?

I put the stock Pinto sway bar on my 40 Tudor with Pinto A arms setup, same as MII. Made some minor modifications to the front of the frame horn to bolt the bushing mount to and stiffen it. Pretty simple install and the dip in the stock sway bar isn't noticeable when front end is on. It isn't running yet, need a radiator and wiring, but it will help with the ride. I'm going to add one the same diameter to the rear too.

I installed a Mustang II cross member under my 40 Ford. I drilled a hole through the frame in front of the cross member where the hose has plenty of room to flex and welded a brake hose mount with clip on the outside of the frame. Too cheep to by the through the frame brake line fittings. I also installed MII sway bare. Brake lines clear every thing. You can do the same or buy the through the frame fittings.

Thanks, great websight.
Speaking of 60's race cars, a friend had a red 62 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 426 maxi-wedge. It was raced by a guy from Portsmouth, Ohio and was called Porters Pride, ghost image on doors from old decal. It had homemade collectors that came out behind the front wheels about the size of sewer pipes. Sounded like it was running in a cave when uncapped.
Anyway, does anyone have any pictures of this car from the 60's?
This guy has been kicking himself for letting it go for years.

Tech Illustrator since about 1983, Graphic Design/Illustrator the last couple of jobs. Jet engine mechanic in the Navy, mechanic manager at a local private garage that has been in business since about 1950, while going to college and a couple of years after. I still help out there when someone is off. I've been laid off looking for a comparable position for a little over a year. Lots of job if I want to drive a couple of hundred miles or relocate. Been doing freelance jobs at home when I can find them. Worked at Rockwell on B1 bomber illustration and lots of other manufacturing and a research company. Last job was at a engineering consulting company that did front end analysis, logistic support analysis and tech manuals. All the managers where retired military officers. What a great place to work, not.
If anyone knows of any tech illustrator work let me know. I've developed illustration and exploded views for AECMA, MIL, ATA and customer formats for service and installation manuals and SGML data modules.
My wife's been really sick for a while so it's a good thing I've been home.
I have a 40 Tudor I bought from a friend.  It was pretty ruff when I got it. Still needs a lot of TLC. I've installed a 3L TPI SBC with a T5 out of an Iroc. Doing bodywork and new floor now. Still need rad, wiring and a few other things before its running. Also helping a buddy build his 37 Chevy streetrod.

February 12, 2004, 11:34:51 AM
Well we'll try this one more time.
I posted this message a little while ago but it must be stuck in syberspace. Must be the new software, couldn't be me.

FYI _ If anyone is interested, there's a swapmeet at Springfield Ohio fairgrounds this weekend, Feb 14 & 15.
I usually get a flyer but a friend saw the listing in the paper.
I tried to look it up but their websight is down. In other word double-check this info before driving 200 miles.

Rodder's Roundtable / Welcome Aboard

I installed a new modem yesterday then went to the Rodding Roundtable websight and couldn't get in. I thought, man what did I screw up this time. Took me a couple of hours to install it the modem, remove old software, install new software and card, remove new software, re-install new software, you know the drill (if all else fails "Read The Directions stupid").
The new sight seems good, now I can get in.
Anyway change is good.
