Rodder's Roundtable / Is copper the new red?
April 19, 2005, 08:36:59 AM
Don, did you see that very light silver bottom (below the chrome) and bone top (above the chrome) 56 chevy 4DRHT with caddy caps at the roundup? That was a very nice combo that if you think about it, dosen't really sound good together, but on the car they really worked.

Rodder's Roundtable / Pink 59 Caddy Stolen in Vegas

That was my friends car. He's sick about it. that car was his baby and his daily driver. All his tools, clothes, ID, money and clothes were in the trunk. I talked to him last night, he said someone saw it on Fremont St. Sat. night. The Shifters have their eyes and ears open in Cal. for it. The cad is pink with a white top and white interior. It has 59 Tenn. plates on the front and a vintage OK plate on the rear. the front end sits up kind high because of the 350 SBC in it. You can't miss it. There is a reward offered for the return of the car or a name and address of the thief. (Not that any "accidents or harm" would come to them)

Can't wait for it. My buddy and I are building a 32 plymouth that should be capable of mid 9's. Also, please don't hate me because I work for DOT :D .

Rodder's Roundtable / Well, it's settled!

I don't post here very often (I'm a HAMB kinda guy), but, I'd rethink the Linc idea. They have very complicated electrical, vaccume and HVAC systems. We have one here and nobody will work on it because it is a real pile! I would suggest a '58-'60 Chevy. The can be bought very cheap. The electrical is relatively simple. The suspension is a no-brainer. The body has more style than anything else in that year range, lots of parts cars still around and many parts will interchange with other models and years. One of my first old cars was a '60 four door. I drove that car into the ground, rebuilt it, drove it into the ground again and then sold it for a profit! It gave me the knowledge to built my '53 chev next and to finish the 3rd, and most extensive, rebuild of my '51 Merc (which was, technically, my first car). Plus, there is a large aftermarket for these cars. Bolt-in airbags, suspension upgrades and gauge panels etc. I'm not trying to disuade you form getting a Linc, but just look around at other cars and ask the owners alot of questions. Most (non goldchainers) would be happy to answer them. Good luck on the build and most importantly, what ever you get, BUY A SHOP MANUAL!!!!

Rodder's Roundtable / 7" booster questions & locations...
December 10, 2004, 10:10:16 AM
Quote from: "enjenjo"Go with a 79 to 89 mustang booster, it's an inch bigger that the 7" street rod booster, and was used on all the Fox body cars, so it's common as dirt.

I'd go with one if I had the room! The booster is going under the floor on a 51 Merc. I managed to drag the paint of a 7"er pulling out of the shop for the first time! Plus, I kinda like the idea Master Power had conderning the prop valve (Lines point to the inside, Prop valve horiz. under M/C, lines out of prop valve to outside, viola just where I need them!)

Yeah, I saw those. I was wondering about them. My thing is, when I get a car running, I drie the * out of it and something always fails. Usually on the road, out in the middle of nowhere. I can't go into a parts house and say "I got this booster on ebay, you got one?" I need make, model and year for the booster. I've got the M/C figured out.

Rodder's Roundtable / 7" booster questions & locations...

What  did these come in? I'd like to find one outside of master power brakes for two reasons. 1) I can't really afford their stuff and 2) what if it goes out on the road? Do I call MP and have them ship one, I think not!  I'd also like to find a dual diaphram 7" booster to try. I've managed to track down a M/C but can't find a booster. Thanks.

Thanks for the info guys. I haven't hooked it up yet because I'd heard stories about blowing seals on the MII racks. I'll try to hook up the rack I have, if I blow it up, I'll try a t-bird rack.

New guy reporting for duty. I'm a regular on the HAMB (JK) and decided to join over here also. A little less drama over here. Also, I can view this from work. I'm in the final stages of getting my 425 nailhead powered 1951 Merc back on the road after taking the backseat to other projects for a few years. I'm married and just brought my new daughter home yesterday, 11/11/04. I've been into hot rods my entire life, and built quite a few decent customs, no hot rods or street rods yet. My Merc has a MII front clip with a power rack. I intend on using the buick PS pump. Do I really need to use a pressure reduction valve or can I run it for a while without it? Is there a way to modify the pressure spring in the pump to put out less pressure? Can I just fill the rack and pump and take the belt off and go without PS for now? Sorry for so many questions right off the bat, but, I need to figure these things out. Thanks.
