Rodder's Roundtable / Louisville nationals

I don't think you are mis-understood at all TU. I certainly agree. Getting there early doesn't always mean trying to be a power parker, but many times a cool place to park without being on the asphalt frying pan.
Speaking of 12 yr old kids, my sisiter in law asked me to bring my 34 coupe to her summer class last week and talk to the kids about streetrodding and what the hobby was all about. What an opportunity. What fun. I had 28 boys and girls following me around with more questions than I could answer. What an experiance!

Quote from: "Trucked Up"Not sure if I am misunderstood but I will clarify my position.

I absoultly have no desire to park in the up front look at me spots. I have no desire for awards or trophys. I get my reward with each and every thumbs up I get along to trip to and from. Especially the 6-12 year olders. Hopefully they are the future rodders.

I only desire to find a place to park and enjoy the my friends and hopefully make few new ones. Arriving at any given event at 7 A.M and to see hundreds of vacant areas occupied by everything except a breathing human is disappointing.

And I AGREE TOTALLY with the comment on why is the guy with the 1000 square foot tent any different than Joe Schmo with his little 10x10 EZ-UP?

NSRA and GG's if you are watching I hope you take note. There is a lot of people upset with this situation. With the price of gas and hotels our other weekend options are looking much more attractive.

Haven't been to the nats in about three years. Will be there this year and looking forward to it.
When me and a couple buddies went, back in '01/'02, we'd line up early around 3am and hang out until they "released the hounds!" then head up around the garden circle area and squat. If it was already taken, (usually by cars left overnight) we'd park out somewhere near a median with a spot of grass. No tents, no chair reserving. If you couldn't get up like me, half hung over, brushing your teeth in your sleep, questioning your sanity like I was, I sure as hell wouldn't save a spot for the 'Johnny-come-lately' who just had to get his 9am Shoney's breakfast. Buddy or no buddy. The next morning would be the same. First come, first serve. I never removed someone's chair to park though, nor will I ever.
Do I think one shoe fits all? No. I know one thing, the NSRA suits aren't going to do anything that will screw up their 'cash cow'. The lesser of two evils will be chosen whatever they think that is.
I remember seeing the RRT/hamb'ers BBQ grille & banner in about the same place on the east side fence row for years. I really don't see how that could tick anybody off. It seemed to be a perfect meeting place for many, not just a haven for a chosen few, and I think who-ever set it up  intended it that way.
Just my take boys, just my take.

Nice guy and nice street rod. Wish I had a picture to show, but I left my camera in the car. Here is a picture of phat rats real deal.
Thanks for the kind words Joe. Feeling's mutual. It was good meeting you guys again, see you in September if not before.

Ran into a few people we knew, wzjunk included.
Sat. night around the host hotel was dead due to weather. Sunday dried out. Met some great new friends too. 2160 registered. Alot more ratrods than last year. Some were pretty clever. Saw aircraft seats in a nice 32 coupe. Another sported a cherry bomb muffler for an air cleaner.
Met a guy from Little Rock who just finished a 34 ford 4door sedan he bought from a lady who had it stored since WWII. Lots of fun the whole weekend.
I was glad to see the gas costs didn't keep people away.

Rodder's Roundtable / Bumper car trailer ideas
May 29, 2007, 05:30:57 PM
A couple/three years ago I started a plan to build a trailer from an old "DODGEM' metal bumper car but shelved it for a while 'till I finished our house construction. Now that's over (except for the mortage payment) I want to get this thing at least pull-able to drag behind my coupe to Louisville in a couple months. I bought a couple 1950's boat trailer fenders from a swap meet and a pair of torsion spindles from Northern tool. I haven't figured out quite how to build the deck yet. The length of the tongue, the distance the rear axle should be behind the vehicle, etc. are all still to be determined.
Has anybody seen anything similiar? I measured a couple homemade poptrailer rigs to get an idea, but I haven't pulled the trigger on a design.
Any thoughts, pictures, or websites would be great!
Do these little things bounce around alot?

Quote from: "Joe Gaddy"One more try for Lance picture.
Hey Joe...only a member of the Green Country Gang could have taken that picture! I was humbled to say the least with their clubs award.
What a great weekend that was at 'Ol Marais river run.
The weather this weekend still looks good after tonights long range forecast. Definete rain this thursday, but spotty sun and low rain chances the rest of the weekend.
Looks like I may be working the gate helping out the local club on friday, so I'll keep an out for the pictured rides. I'll be the beer bellied, gray haired, middled aged guy wearing a straw hat in a car shirt. Can't miss me.

I've talked to our local club prez' who after visiting with the suits at NSRA said we're 140+ pre-registrations higher than last year at this same time. Hope the fuel costs don't keep 'em all from coming. I'll be in my road-rashed little coupe like every year. Really looking forward to it.

Daryle, I sent you an email with a little update. House is almost done.
Rick, looking forward to seeing you and your wife again. Kristy and I had a ball the last time we went a couple three years ago. We're staying at the Comfort Inn at the south end of town. We'll be in the 'ol reliable '34...7 years, 35G miles later of roadrash and all. She don't shine like she used to, but the fun of driving her hasn't lost it's luster one bit!

A buddy of mine was bragging on the hamb drags a couple weeks ago, said I should have gone.
I WILL be going to Ottawa Ks. to the 'Ol Marais show on the 16th though if anyone around here is planning to go.

Rodder's Roundtable / "Speedy Bill" Smith Museum Tour
January 22, 2006, 04:21:50 PM
Quote from: "40"Thank You!  :)
Daryle, that sounds like fun. Every time we've been to Lincoln to 'Americruise' we never took the time to go through the museum.
I'll see if Caleb or Kristy would be interested. (It never snows in Nebraska in March..right?) lol

Rodder's Roundtable / a couple pics of my project
December 15, 2005, 06:03:26 PM
Caleb's been busy for sure. He's just about got the frame ready. Brake booster bracket, double 'D' steering rod support, and the driveshaft loop is about all thats left before he breaks it down again for final touch-up welding and grinding.
He no doubt will be posting more pictures now that he apparently has the hang of it.

Rodder's Roundtable / Louisville Roll Call
July 31, 2005, 06:04:13 PM
I'll be there with my nephew, thursday thru sunday.
I told Caleb it will look like a sea of 13,000 multi-colored easter eggs from the field just east of the entrance. He's getting excited.

Hi Daryle.
Hope all of you have a great time up there.
We're up to our eyeballls in our new home construction, and with me pretending to be the contractor, I doubt I'll see another carshow for a while.
