I'd go with the turbo mufflers, too. In my opinion, the Flowmasters are too loud.

Rodder's Roundtable / Junkyard sawsall question

I bought a good used Dewalt saw on ebay. A saw minus the battery is real cheap. I then bought new batteries on ebay as well. Much cheaper than the big box stores.

Thanks for the photos. Due to some health problems, I didn't make it this year. The first time in over 20 years. It's nice to see such a wide variety of rodding styles. Frankly, I'm getting a little bored with the hyper-traditional look. Kinda like the 90's with all the pastel colors. It's good to see guys wandering off the trendy trail.

Rodder's Roundtable / headlights, big or small ?

When I first built my 33, I used polished stainless king bees for the lights. Although, they looked fine, the front of car really came alive after I replaced them with chrome 32 headlites. It looked SO much better.

The "Twin Sticks" were rare. As I recall, you pushed one to make the car go forward, the other, when you wanted to go backwards.

Doesn't Haboob own the 7-11?

where do you measure to see what size tail housing he has?

big thanks

later jim

it is not too complicated.

first get a tape measure

2; get under the car. Jim you will need a hi-lift jack

3; look for the transmission , Jim get some help here

4; measure the tail housing from the end with seal on it , to the point the tail housing meets the trans case.

5;  read the tape measure , Jim see number ''3'' for additional info in part two of number ''3''

Gosh, I LOVE sarcasm!

Rodder's Roundtable / AC leak question
July 04, 2011, 08:16:49 AM
You might try looking for any place you see an oily substance, like from hose fittinds, on the condesor tubes and like that. When the freon leaks out, it takes some refrigerant oil with it, hence the traces of oil at the leak site.

If my experience with Grundy shows anything, you have nothing to worry about. I had banged up my 66 Nova that I have insured thru Grundy. Very nice folks to deal with. They had an aduster out the Monday after the accident (the accident was on Friday afternoon). I had the check for my repairs within seven days. Excellent service.

Papastoys, thank you so much! I REALLY appreciate your help.  Thanks again to all of you guys for making this the "go-to-site".

Thanks, Wayne. I really need the measurement from the rear of the belt surface to the inside of the mouunting ear. I want to built a compressor mount and I need this measurement to be sure the belt will line up with the existing pullys.

Does anyone out there have the dimensions of a Sanden 508 A/C compressor with serpentine belt? I need the measurement of the rearmost surface of where the belt rides to the inside of the front mount, and the measurement between the mounts. The compressor that I'm referring to is the universal compressor with the mounting ears. Thanks, Fred
