Rodder's Roundtable / TH350C
September 03, 2004, 11:26:02 AM
Does anybody have any experience with the TH350C, what are the draw backs to putting the lock up on a switch? I've been thinking about changing to one of these to pull my revs down on the highway, any comments welcome TIA.

Thanks everyone, I think we have most of it figured out now, I did the bottom end today, the timing is the only tricky part but I think we have it figurd out, it's actually timed to two of the timing chain links. I'm off to BTTF on Wednesday so this will have to wait until next week. If I get it fired up I'll post if not if not I'll @#$@!$!.............

Rodder's Roundtable / Toyota R5 Specs

Went to the library today, LOL, I found all kinds regular Toyota stuff but nothing on this particular engine. I'm guessing that Toyota forklifts had an industrial type engine in them this one is a OHV and not an OHC like you would expect. Perhaps tomorrow I'll try a forklift repair shop and see if I can pry some info out of them.

Rodder's Roundtable / Toyota R5 Specs

I stopped by a friends welding shop today and found out he had torn the motor out of his forklift, he had the block and heads sent out to be redone and had started to reassemble the thing. The problem is he doesn't have a manual and is not that familiar with engines, I can help him out a bit but I just had surgery and am not that mobile yet. I'm almost positive he doesn't have the timing right as the marks on the crank and cam sprockets don't line up to anything. Does anybody know where I can get on line info on the thing: best guess is that it's a 82 Toyota R5 engine??

Rodder's Roundtable / Wiper Motor
March 25, 2004, 07:43:43 PM
I want to change my vacuum wiper motor to electric, I was told that JC Whitney had the direct replacement motors. But when I went to their site it says the motors are for 41 to 48 Chevs and mine is a 40. Will this still work or is there a difference between 40 and 41.

TIA

Rodder's Roundtable / Coil Spring Question
March 17, 2004, 01:25:02 PM
I'm doing a new frame for my 40 Chev, I've used MII for the front end the donor was a 77 Bobcat, my question is: should I use the original springs or should I purchase springs that were used on V8 Mustangs.

TIA

Rodder's Roundtable / Mercury Truck Grille???
March 10, 2004, 10:42:04 AM
I called this guy below he doesn't have a grill but he has an emblem for the hood. His email address is:

partsprospector@shaw.ca

Phone 204-889-2666

His name is Keith, he does a lot of buying and selling on ebay. I've dealt with him before (5 or 6 years ago) he was reasonable then, not sure about now.

Rodder's Roundtable / Shop electrical problems

Just had another thought (can you smell the smoke), by chance did he put a switch at the other end of your shop if so that would explain a lot, as well you'll need 3 way switches, be careful of your whites he may be using one for power if there is no reds present.

Just a guess here, but you have 2 switches so that you can turn on the only a couple of lights at a time, I assume that the row of two would be on one switch and the other six would be on the other. The normal way would be to run power to one ceiling box and then loop from there to the next and so on. If you only have one wire in each ceiling box then they must be joined together in another jumction box probably in the attic and you'll have to locate it and check all the connections. However if you more than one wire in any of the ceiling boxes then it's just a matter of joining the blacks and whites together to get power to the other lights.

This just a guess and hope I don't send you on a wild goose chase. :P
