This has been a very interesting read to me also.

I turned 16 in 1974, my first car was a 61 Chevy Biscayne  it was 13 years old,  everybody called it an old car.  My folks didn't want me to leave town in it because it was so old, and probably undependable. (it had 28,000 original miles on it,LOL)

But looking around now a 13 year old car (1994) car isn't old to me.  In fact the 64 ford that I'm working on now really doesn't seem that old, except when I go to the auto parts store and the kid tells me his computer doesn't go back that far.

I guess to me an old car is something built before I was born, but, to some people cars are too old to drive before they make that 60th payment.

My dad has never understood my love of old cars, and now he can't believe that I'll leave town in cars that are 50 plus years old and go on vacation, and these cars shouldn't be as old to him as they are to me, LOL

Rodder's Roundtable / Terrible News
January 17, 2007, 09:20:13 AM
Just got a call from Debb Butler,  she's just gotten word overnight that her father has passed away.  She said there was a fire last night at his home, and the death was a result of that.  Don't know much of anything else, but thought I'd let her friends know about this terrible loss.

How old?what year? The '48 to'51 truck and station wagons (2 wheel drive )furnished a lot of the pieces and technology that was use in the Jeepsters. GPster

I'm not sure what year it is, I guess I'll need to figure it out, huh?  I do remember that this truck has round rear fenders instead of the square type...does that help narrow down the  years?

His is a 4WD, and he does want to keep it that way.  He's heard that an S10 4wd frame fits under these trucks pretty well,  you know anything about that?   He wants to go with a late model running gear, and wants alittle better than 45 MPH as top speed, LOL

Our oldest daughter told us this week that she's expecting her first child.  Her first and our 4th grandchild.  Great Christmas news!:D

Last night at my wife's family Christmas party while she and her mom were announcing it to the entire family, her husband had me on the front porch  asking me to help him do a restoration with modifications to his granddad's old Willys pickup, starting after the first of the years.... dang just when I thought it couldn't get better!....    Debbie's given me permission to add on to my shop to make room for C.C.'s truck!

THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS!!

Merry Christmas everybody

Rodder's Roundtable / Another Ford question

I took the line from the fuel pump off no fuel was coming in.  So I put the air to it, cleared the line, and fuel started running out  freely, so I put the new rubber lines on.   Made a few runs on the country roads around the house without a problem.  Around 2 oclock I headed out to Aiken SC, about 50 miles, (with Debbie following in her PT) no problems at all!    So now  it's sitting at the body shop for some smoothing out this week.

Thanks for the help! 8)

Rodder's Roundtable / Another Ford question

I've  working on my 64 Econoline today, even took it out for a test drive.  But having a little problem with the 170 6 cylinder.  I'm no master mechanic so I'm begging for help :?

The van sat up for quite a few years, but is running fine, it idles good, revs up fine (as well as can be expected), and has acceptable power.  After driving it at highway speed for a couple of miles, it dies, like it's starving for fuel.  I replaced the fuel filter thinking that may be the problem, but it didn't repair the problem.  If I let the van sit for a couple of minutes it'll start back up and give me another quarter mile or so.

I'm thinking of taking off all the rubber fuel lines, and replacing them thinking one may be closing up, and while I've got all the hoses off I'll put the air compressor to the metal lines to see if they are clogged up.

Any other suggestions out there?   ....a V8?

thanks in advance!

I finally picked up the econoline saturday.  Decided to see if I could get it started today, put in a new battery,  then a new starter, then a new voltage regulator, finally out of desperation I put on two new battery cable ends...That did it!   It finally turned over a few times and fired right up.  (Told Debbie I really needed that other stuff anyway)

That really cool.  Back in the late 80's we heard about a night launch of the shuttle, went out to a dark hill top, and watched for it in the south sky.  Just when we thought we wouldn't see it, it appeared, almost like a shooting star, just slower and going up (LOL)  We saw it from almost 450 miles away. .......that's some kinda flame thrower!

Truly amazing
