I saw someone put a Japanese Lexus V8 in a rod, what's that?  A rice rod? :?  Or maybe a Sushi rod :?:

And if you have a Chevy small block in your rod, it must definitely be a mouse rod

Quote from: "kb426"I see about 3 classifications these days. The first is : street rod. We all know what that means. Those that hang around the HAMB have hot rods or "traditional rods" They tend to be low dollar but with good design and minimal paint. The leadsled with flat finsih fits that catagory. The ratrods I see are a collage of whatever the builder can find. The construction is sometimes suspect. I believe that most of those cars are very price oriented. In the last year I have seen several ratrods. Their level of components are not what I could comfortably travel long distances with. The owners have great fun.

What's the difference between these classifications, Hot rod, street rod and soft rod?
In which category do you think my ride belongs?
I have fenders on the car so no hot rod. Well I did have some shiny paintwork so it's not a rat rod I guess.  Do you use the term soft rod? Or is it maybe a custom car due to the air ride? I really don't know.
But I like the rat rod attitude with flat black paint or even no paint at all. 8)  8)  8)

Rodder's Roundtable / Duett V8
May 30, 2006, 01:24:33 PM
Take a look at this nice ride for sale here in Sweden. :-o

Here is a translation,
1968 Volvo Duett with 383 Chevy and Th 700r4 trans, Volvo 164 front suspension, Ford 8" rear axle, aluminum heads, 21/2 headers, Bmw power steering, Power brakes etc.
The car was first registered with a 245 hp 350 and approved with that.

The guy wants some 13500 USD for the car.

This is the only V8 equipped Duett I ever heard about.

Rodder's Roundtable / I need help on a Chrysler.

I also think he is comparing apples and oranges, because he now owns a Volvo, and a new Volvo costs twice as much as the Chrysler. With that sort of difference in price, there are going to be differences in quailty of fit, finish, and performance. During my tenure at the body shop, I got to drive various Volvos, BMW's. etc. and also some Sebrings. I feel there are some real differences in these cars, as would be expected, because of the price.

Don
Well. That's not the thru really. The original price on the Sebring is a little higher then the Volvo over here. Remember that the Volvo is manufactured here in Sweden so maybe we have to pay less then you guys in the U.S. But this was a "Once in a lifetime deal" as the salesmen put it.
Anyway I liked to thank you for your opinion on this one.

Rodder's Roundtable / I need help on a Chrysler.

Well, maybe this is kind of off topic in a Hotrod forum but anyway here we go, 8)
The thing is that my regular driver, a Volvo 850 btw, is reaching the end of the line so to speak, and I need to buy another car and I got an offer to buy a brand new 2006 Chrysler Sebring Limited for a very reasonable price. I can buy this car for almost half the price compared to a Volvo V70 that is my second choice.   The car is very well equipped and nice to drive but what are you opinions about the Chrysler? Both pros and cons are welcomed.
