Rodder's Roundtable / Re: 48 chevy truck
O&S made a few parts today. Months ago, Matt suggested that I make acorn nuts for the upper a arm bolts. I didn't have any hex material so I used round stock. They are threaded 12mm x 1.75 and are machined for a 1/2" open end wrench to tighten or remove. Nothing fancy. :) I used a collet to hold the stock in the lathe and the mill. One collet holder is hex and the other is square.

I have done 3. All have been bolt in. on the last unit, I used poly suspension material to make spacers to reduce the bore size down to bolt size. They were a light snug fit on both inner and outer dimensions. The older Ford 8.8's have the carried rubber mounted so mounting the cradle with isolators isn't important to me.

If you look at other brands such as Lexus, I think you will find more choices. I haven't researched them to know if that is good or poor. 2006 and newer Chrysler big cars are a possible.

Off to Pueblo tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing friends and seeing how the show is. Because it's the 50th Back to the 50's, I wonder if the numbers will be down? The 48 is as clean as it will be for the next 4 days. I will kill a lot of bugs on the trip but I don't clean the truck until I get home. :)

Lame update. I washed the truck today after the 100 mile trip from yesterday. My cloth hinge cover seems to work as desired. :) I don't know how long the coating lasts but I have enough material to make several more. LOL.

I don't have a good name for it. There's room for some creativity to have something to talk about. :)

Good info. I have used half of the products you mentioned. I will try to remember the differences. :)

This mornings project. Marine coated cloth with velcro sewed to the back for the hinge cover on the bed cover. I had not sewed velcro before and it looks like it. :) The cloth is coated on the back side for water proofing. I'll find out how good it is. :)

I'll remember that. I had been tempted to try that but wondered if it would dry out before doing anything.

Matt, who did the chassis on the Stude?

O&S decided it was time for a little more exercise. Buffing not finished.

I'm using the 16mm male to 6an male adapter that Summit and Speedway sells. The outlet on the pump has a slight bevel. I'm using a copper sealing washer and a o ring under it. I went to Rock Auto and looked up the pressure hose for a 91 s10. It shows 16mm on both ends. Could you use the factory hose and remove the hose from it? The Carquest dealer has steel compression fittings that could go on the steel ends and allow them to crimp the correct length of hose to the ends. I don't remember what rack and pinion you're using so that may be a waste of time. :)

Yes to the PTFE being teflon. I would remove the pressure switch but I didn't do any research to see if there could be a down side to that.
