Rodder's Roundtable / 1935 Ford Grille
August 16, 2007, 10:56:10 AM
G'morning,

I am searching for ideas and insight-I am building a '35 Ford Five Window Coupe, and I am having trouble finding an Aftermarket Grille (I don't want a Stock one)-I am looking for a Stainless Grille (or Aluminum), and my choices are limited (that I can find)-here are the choices:

*Grille Art-nice guy, TWO Year waitlist, $2300.00

*Alumicraft-no longer has a website (kind of suspicious), and I've heard some nightmares about them.

*Hot Rods and Memorabilia-seems to be a reseller, doesn't know how long the wait would be, not very helpful which is concerning-

*turn it into a '36 (just now getting ready to order my Wescott's Fenders and running boards, could easily turn it into a '36)-price $300.00

There seem to be so many '36's (and I think a lot of guys turn '35's into '36's), but it is what it is-

Any ideas?

Rodder's Roundtable / Fenders

I lurk here a lot and don't Post much, but I saw a Thread where you were asking for more Posts, so here goes.

I am going to be ready for the Fenders, Running Boards, Trunk for my Project ('35 5 Window Coupe-duh!) in a few Months (gotta finish the Top Chop and Fill)and have looked at the choices that are available out there-J.B. Donaldson (which uses '37 lights), Fairlane, Wescott's and maybe more.

The question is that there seems to be a perception that Wescott's is the best-I was going to buy them, however they are sometimes twice the Price of the other Manufacturers-does anyone here have any experience with Fairlane, Wescott's or both?

Guys,

For all of you with Rods in the build stage, has it ever seemed like it would NEVER get done? Or, it's a dream you will never realize?

I've been working on my '35 for six years now, and, while I do see progress, it sure seems like forever-maybe because I want it so bad. My problem isn't the money part (I can afford the parts but refuse to let someone else build it), it's having the time-I can only work on Saturdays on the car-anyone else feel this way?

Rodder's Roundtable / Weld Inserts
December 07, 2005, 11:35:47 AM
Guys,

I have a question. I am looking for some threaded weld inserts. The only place I have seen them used, (and I hate to use this), is on American Chopper, the Teutel's T.V. show. They look like round bar stock that has been drilled and tapped. Yes, I realize that I could do this, but I was hoping for a Supplier that has them pre-made, as I will need a bunch of them.

I also realize that I could go to a Machine Shop, but I think that would be prohibitively expensive. I have seen something kinda close through Race Car shops, but not exactly what I am looking for.

Have I made this understandable, and does anyone know of a source?

Thanks for looking,

Craig
