Rodder's Roundtable / TH350 Question-Crosley?
November 22, 2005, 10:57:08 PM
TH350 in my roadster has no 2nd gear.  Take off in 3rd starts out first, normal, shifts to 3rd from 1st.  Smooth shift, just like a powerglide!  No slip, hesitation, nothing.  If I shift it manually 1st works fine, shift to 2nd, just like neutral, shift to 3rd is fine.  No slipping, nothing in 1st or 3rd.  Ran it up to about 80mph drives normal.  Fluid level fine, no smells or discoloration.  Tranny is a TCI, have about 5,000 miles on it since April 05.  Came with project car, was new, never ran, about 10 yrs old.  Has a TCI converter also.
Don't know how long it has been like this, haven't manually shifted it for several weeks, worked fine last time.  Car is so light I wouldn't have noticed had I not manually shifted last time I drove it.
Any ideas?  I don't have a problem overhauling it, just no good @ troubleshooting.  Don't want to do a major teardown unless I have to.  Oh yeah, running B&M trans fluid.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Rodder's Roundtable / Paging Crosley-Tranny Question
February 01, 2005, 09:21:46 PM
You guys are going to get tired of questions on my new project.
The roadster has a TCI TH350.  Receipts I have found so far show it was purchased new in '95.  Was installed on engine but never filled with fluid or run, still has plastic shipping plugs in place for  driveshaft yoke, filler tube and detent cable, they were never installed.  Has new TCI torque converter in place bolted to flexplate.  Also engine never started.
Do you think everything will be ok or should I replace extension housing to driveshaft seal and front pump seal as cheap insurance?  Has always been inside, not exposed to elements.  I think they should be ok but right now I have the body off the frame and am going to pull the engine/tranny to weld in steering box mount so would be easy now.
Your expert opinion please!

Acquired a car that has a Mallory Unilite and a Malory Promaster coil.  Partially hooked up, friend that started project died several years ago and I cannot find any installation instructions.  Help?

Rodder's Roundtable / Boxing a Frame
December 05, 2004, 11:41:25 AM
I am rebuilding my 32 Ford frame, has obviously had several lives as K member was so bad nothing left to save, rear crossmember butchered up, old boxing plate was probably about 12 gauge, full of holes & old welds from long gone attachments, cut it all out.  I have just about got all the unnecessary holes welded up, got the frame cleaned up,getting ready to build a good X member& box the frame.
I basically know what I am doing but learn something every day, every car I see.  I think I am going to weld the boxing plate inside the frame, about an inch from the edge. Since I don't have a band saw, plasma cutter etc I bought Speedway boxing plates.
Comments, thoughts, advice?  School me like a baby, explain all the basics, maybe you can help fix my bad habits or correct any misconceptions I have taken as fact.
Thanks!
