Thanks

Does anyone know the overall height and width of the 1938-9 Ford tear drop taillights? The original Grode lights on the '59 TeeNee boat trailer fenders I'm using were around 6.5 inches tall.
Thanks

Rodder's Roundtable / Colorado custom wheels.
February 17, 2010, 07:40:25 PM
I have a set of their wheels on my coupe and had planned to buy a matching pair for my little bumpercar trailer I have (almost) done. I noticed some time ago that they quit advertising in the streetrod magazines, but they still have a website which shows them in california now. I wonder if another company bought them out and the name? Can anyone add any information about why they dropped out? This happened long before the drop in the economy as we know it. As long as I can get the same wheels, I suppose it doesn't matter, but if they aren't the real mccoy, that does concern me. any thoughts?

I'm pulling the rearend out of my 34 coupe today and having a posi unit installed in my 7.5 Next week. This would be a good time to convert my small drum brake set-up with discs. The problem I've run into is, I can't come up with a bolt on from any other vehicle. The closest I came was the solid steel disc on a Ford Explorer which is off an 8 inch rearend but I would have to have alot of machining work done to make it fit.
Is there any company out there that makes a disc brake conversion for a Ford 7.5? It's out of a older Ranger pick-up.
Thanks for any advice.

My employer has asked me to dispose of an old monster of a tri-hull boat his dad bought new in the mid to late 60's. I have'nt looked at it for a few years, but I remember seeing 'Buick' valve covers on the engine.

My question is, is there anything special about a Buick marine V-8 motor that would make it worth keeping for a future rod project, or is it just another 'run-of-the-mill' motor? What should I look for to determine an answer to my question?

I know it's not a 'Nailhead', but rather resembles a smallblock GM motor.
I'll know more in a few days, but thought I'd throw it out there in advance.
Thanks for any input.

Rodder's Roundtable / Bumper car trailer ideas
May 29, 2007, 05:30:57 PM
A couple/three years ago I started a plan to build a trailer from an old "DODGEM' metal bumper car but shelved it for a while 'till I finished our house construction. Now that's over (except for the mortage payment) I want to get this thing at least pull-able to drag behind my coupe to Louisville in a couple months. I bought a couple 1950's boat trailer fenders from a swap meet and a pair of torsion spindles from Northern tool. I haven't figured out quite how to build the deck yet. The length of the tongue, the distance the rear axle should be behind the vehicle, etc. are all still to be determined.
Has anybody seen anything similiar? I measured a couple homemade poptrailer rigs to get an idea, but I haven't pulled the trigger on a design.
Any thoughts, pictures, or websites would be great!
Do these little things bounce around alot?

Rodder's Roundtable / 47-54 Chevy pickup frame question
February 10, 2005, 11:27:16 AM
My nephew and I have his '47 frame almost ready for motor mounts. The MII IFS is welded in place, and we're about to set the frame in a jig I made before we box the rails. Although I completely boxed my rails on my 34 coupe,I'm thinking only part of the rails on the truck frame will need boxing. I WILL have to replace  the 'K' member because of it's condition. Any thoughts? My plan is to mock up a 350/350 with the body setting on the frame to locate the motor mounts. We expect to have to cut the bottom center of the firewall slightly for room for the tranny, keeping in mind room for the distributor and waterpump. I'm not sure if there will be room for a mechanical clutch fan or if an electric fan is a better aproach. We don't have the radiator bought or mocked up yet, so we're not sure how much room we'll need up front.
Any advice (or knowledge of a website about this) from anyone whose been down this rode before with this YR/make would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the room reservation you gave me for Louisville.
Sorry you didn't have time to say hello as you left when I walked into to the RRT camp.
I've mentioned this a time or two on the forum Louisville posts, and twice in private messages to you from the site... but no 'Hi Bud'...hope things are cool and there's no problem festering you're not sharing. Either way, thanks again...Kristy says hi.

Does anybody have an extra room they don't want and plan to cancel? I decided at the last minute to go. I will try the usual route of internet/phone calls to try and find one, but I'd appreciate any help.
I decided at the last minute to go to Columbus, and got lucky finding a room, but this Louisville thing is not going to be as easy, I'm sure.
Thanks!

I've never been there. I printed a map and have a list of hotels in front of me, haven't tried to make a reservation anywhere yet, but will attempt it later today after work.
I'd listen to any advice you seasoned rodders have as to where to stay, not to stay, where to eat, etc.
I'll be going up on my own in my '34. I plan to leave Wednesday afternoon, stop somewhere halfway, show up Thursday mid-day and would like to stay where the majority of the other rodders will be congregating at night. Safe parking, the usual stuff.
What-say-you?
Thanks.

I have the whole week off after the show (with the wife in Florida until the 11th) ee-haw!
Thinking about going to Columbus with the cruise. Any advice from you that have done that trip? Also thinking of maybe heading out west instead for a little middle age crazy time to myself. Daryle (40), you going to be home one evening that week?

.......is in town today (Springfield, Mo.). I ran out to the fairgrounds to check it out. 300-500 cars maybe?
One of the cars on display is a green mustang fastback (67?) that is absolutely gorgeous. Ebay motors emblem on the back.
It sure looked like fun.
