I use silver metallic boiler paint. It is available at heating and plumbing supply houses, is about $60 for a gallon and I have had mine for about 15 or 16 years. Don't recall how many manifoolds/headers I have done with it, but there have been alot, and I still have about a quart left. Good to 3000 degrees. I have done touch-up paintwork on some of my customers' vehicles that I have used this on as much as 3 years later, and still had the paint on the manifolds. The edges were blistered on a couple but the main parts of the manifold still had paint. I fully sandblast and wash them with thinner first. Just another idea....that works for me. Jerry

Was going to work on the 65/84 truck merge today but had a guy call me up and wanted to know if I wanted some scrap wood for my wood burner at the shop. Got there and he has about 10 pickup loads for me for FREE. Truck had to wait....enough wood to get the shop the rest of the way through winter. Guy is building a 6000 sq ft 3 story log MANSION. Hauled 4 loads today, hope to get most of the rest tomorrow.

Very nice ride!!!!! Love to see and love to do the work on these cars. Have not had the chance to do one this old but look forward to it. Jerry

I am 40 years old, been doing restorations since I was 16 on the side. Been in retail auto parts for 16 of the last 20 years and just recently left that to open my restoration company full-time. I have 3 projects that are mine. 68 Impala SS ragtop, 68 Impala 2 dr hardtop, and a 65 Chevy Flatbed. Both Impalas are going back original, but the truck is going on an 84 G30 1 ton chassis. I bought the G30 for 300 dollars with 49,000 original miles. Stripped the box off, and I am using the A/C, the column,and other odds and ends to upgrade the 65 to be my shop truck/advertisement. Attached are some before pics of all 3, no pics of current stages though, my camera died     awhile back, and I haven't replaced it yet.LOL

I know the feeling....I yanked down on my wife's wiper comtrol about 20 or 30 times on her van to put it in gear. The gearshift is on the dashboard on her KIA. :oops:
