I've always liked the sound of those inline sixes! That would be sooo neat.
And yes, engines are meant to be seen so no hood side panels.
Never had experience with that engine but always heard good things about them..........good luck with the deal!!

 Thanks for the info on the holley regulator. That's exactly what I was hoping. With the hole in the unit for the guage it should work out well underneath and out of sight. I'll be ordering tomorrow!! Thanks again!!

 Many thanks for the comments. Today was going to be photo day and I do intend to post some pix. Unfortunately the rains came to the hinterlands today and nothing but clouds and rain in the 5 day forecast. I hope it doesn't wash out the Indy Goodguys!!

 When I get the pix I'm sure I'll need some instruction on posting them as I'm new to this forum and just finding my way around. It's a great site but my computor navigating leaves a lot to be desired  :?

Hi folks,
I recently found that Holly sells a low pressure regulator. In their catalog it stated that if a multiple carb setup, you would have to have a regulator for each carb. Could anyone shed some light on how critical that would be? I have an AV8 with two 94s and could mount a single unit before the fuel block under the body but I wouldn't want to mount two in the engine bay, it's just a looks thing that I'm hung up on. One other thing, can you set the pressure without a guage similar to the little round chrome ones with the pointer? That's the type I'm trying to get a replacement for since I have had two leakers   recently and am gunshy now. Everyone's used them for years but now............

Yesterday I finally took my recently finished 30 AV8 roadster on its maiden voyage and all went well. It never got over 160, thermostat temp, on a hot, humid day in Indiana and everything worked. It took a little while before I remembered to slip the clutch to keep from bucking at low speed in second gear. It's been 43 years since I have rowed that kind of tranny. It also got it's first bath in preparation for cruise night at the Big Boy. Yes, there is still a Big Boy in Anderson, Indiana where they used to cruise in the 50s/60s. They have cruise night every wednesday evening.

Hey Mike, Many thanks for your great book. I had been thinking of building a flatty like my dad raced in the 50s and put in my "T"bucket that had a sbc/pwrgld combo..............then I saw your book!! 6 years ago this month I got the frame and started. I built very close to the book except it is a '30, channelled 4 inches and moved front crossmember to clear a 49 Merc mill. I also went with a hi tech seat (with springs). I had the foam on plywood type on my bucket and since not as much spring in my body decided it better be in the seat. That really did make a more comfy ride.
I have really enjoyed the builden and am really looking forward to the driven!!

Just got done looking at your new stuff. Really liked the pix from the Antique Nats and Paso. I'm here in the hinterlands where I can't see much of that up close and personal. What a blast!! I haven't been on your site since I ran across it on at the Fordbarn quite some time ago. This time I have your site on my "favorites" list. Also I think your "real hot rods" article is excellent philosophy and I agree totally. I'm also glad to see kids taking an interest in cars.

Holley has several fuel pressure regulators.  Some are 1-4psi, others are 4-1/2 to 9 psi.

I haven't used any of the current regulators, but I have used Holley regulators in the past and have been pleased.

 Thanks a lot for the info!!  I went to the Holley site that you provided and found just what I need. I couldn't find a price on the site but I'll get that from the dealer. The site gave me a phone number for a close dealer. I should be able to locate what I need Monday. I never even thought of Holley, Shame on me. Hi folks,
Can anyone recommend a low pressure fuel pressure regulator other than the small round chrome one we've all been using for years (marketed under various brand names). I and others have had leakers and now NAPA won't carry them. I have been looking for alternatives with no luck. All kinds of high pressure units but can't find low pressure unit for a flattie. After seeing these leakers I just don't trust them anymore. On another site someone said NAPA had recalled them but don't know about the validity of that.

The only downside is no weekends, days off, holidays or vacation time to look forward too!! HA

I appreciate the replys and it confirms my suspicions. The replacement I got is also sold as a "Spectre" brand and I'm still very concerned about the possibility of getting another leaker. My gut tells me all of this type are made by the same manufacturer now, (China). After all the blood, sweat and money, I really hate the thought of my new toy burning to the ground.
I wonder if anyone could recommend a small reliable replacement made in USA. Presently it is mounted inside the frame rail right after the pump, but I could re-route the line if a replacement didn't fit there.

I have a fuel pressure regulator that only has had a short period of running time on it in my recentely finished AV8 roadster. Just up and down the driveway. After being at the paintshop a month and the trim shop another month, I noticed it leaking around the control dial. It's the small chrome type, approx 2" dia with approx 1 1/2 " dia control dial. They are very commonly used. I have used the same type in racing applications and also a "T" bucket with no leaks. I noticed it was made in China. Has anyone had or heard of these leaking?  I'm kinda spooked now. I just put on a replacement but haven't ran it yet.
