Rodder's Roundtable / torqueflight sprag fix...
February 03, 2009, 11:57:30 AM
Quote from: "Crosley"bolt in sprag race has been around for years...

sprag holds in low gear,

usually when the race , sprag , rollers are destroyed in low gear with the shifter in "D" the rear band is not applied.

in "1 "  on the shifter, the rear band is applied to aid in holding power to the sprag

Except with most reverse pattern valve bodies. A&A  and a few others now make a rear band apply valve body to help. Another thing to be very aware of when using a valve body that does NOT have rear band apply,is that when the sprag "rolls over" or rips out of the case, the front drum will overspeed to 2.5 times engine speed, which results in some very nasty carnage if your running a STOCK front drum.

Check out this thread from another board.

Thanks for the reply. Trust me Charlie, he knows he is going to take a beating as bad, if not worse than the one I took 3 years ago when we traded vehicles.  I am going to send him a link to this web site and this thread so he can get an idea what he is up against.

I just thank GOD everyday that we got our home paid off, and the Daytona is free and clear....even if I feel like I have a bazillion bucks in it.

Do you guys and gals remember the truck I was building? Well, I traded it about 3 years ago to a gentleman in South Carolina. He spent the last three years stripping ALL of the body work out and redoing it correctly. He has EVERYTHING completed with the exception of the interior and even part of it is already painted. When we traded, I had just over 90 grand in the truck(40 in parts and 50 in sublet body shop labor   I know, lesson learned.)
ANYWHO.....the gentleman with the truck called me this evening and do to stuff out of his control, has decided to put the truck up for sale. He called me to get an idea as to where to start as far as pricing. With the economy the way it is,I had to admit I had no clue whatsoever, so I am asking the brain-trust here for opinions....and we all know what they say about opinions
Here is how it looks today. Waddyathink it is worth with things being like they are today???

ps. I thanked him profusely for sticking with my original plans and concept. I think he did a fantastic job of almost finishing it.

Rodder's Roundtable / Electric drills
October 26, 2008, 08:11:28 PM
Sorry I am so late getting in on this thread........I have a LOT of the Dewalt 18volt stuff. TWO 3/8 drills, one is a hammer drill,a  sawzall, a small circular saw, the radio battery charger thing and a flashlight or two. I can't say one bad thing about ANY of them. The smaller drill and the circular saw I have had for 6 or 7 years, and have used the living daylights out of both of them. the drill has been so hot that it started smoking and stinking, but it still keeps on drilling anything I need drilled!

I can feel your pain as well Beck. I once drove 17 hours one way, from Mansfield Ohio to Fluker La to purchase a 1934 Plymouth rumble seat coupe. They had sent me tons of photo's and even a video. Found out after I got there that the pictures and the video were over 5 years old and all had been taken by the previous owner. The car was the biggest pos I had ever seen. I drove the 17 hours back home with an empty trailer and a pocket full of cash.

Rodder's Roundtable / Testing the Ohio Market...
September 06, 2008, 10:34:37 AM
I have used U-Ship a couple of times with very good success! The last thing I had shipped was a 1000lb smoker that I had custom built in Georgia. I got lucky because the fellow that brought it up for me was from Mansfield originally and needed a reason to visit some family members. He brought it up and delivered it for 300.00 :D

Rodder's Roundtable / I have a silly question..........
September 04, 2008, 08:00:50 AM
How come I can open every thread with the exception of the "Testing the Ohio market" thread?? For some odd reason,my browser just grinds away and it will NOT open that thread. Is it because I am in Ohio? LOL! LOL!

I was shocked when I first this, but after I saw the video.......... '

I had told Willy that I would never run my car at National Trails ever again.
I ran there a couple of years ago during the Mopar Nat's. After my first pass, and seeing a concrete barrier across the end of the track just before the turnoff road......I cross the stripe at just over 140 mph .....No way in HE!! will I ever race there again.
I may be some dumb.....but I ain't plumb dumb!!
