Title: New guy here...
Post by: dave boley on August 27, 2008, 09:51:51 AM
Hi Everyone,
New guy here...  I registered a few days ago and I have been lurking to get an idea of what's going on here.  So far I like the site and I find it more to my liking than some others I belong to that are either loaded with snooty know-it-alls or they excel in being down right obnoxious.  I sense a more middle of the road theme here and I like that.

I have a '53 F-100 I bought earlier this year as well as two donor vehicles for the project.  I do have a website started for the project but the rules here prevent me from posting the a link so you will have to wait or try to find it by Google.  Hint:  Try my username without a space and add a dot info.  That will get you started.  After the customery five posts maybe I can post it.

Durring planning and the eventual start of work on my project, which looks like November, I hope to be tapping the resources here for ideas and help if I get stuck on something.

I have a fairly well equipped shop with welding equipment, two lathes and a Bridgeport mill.  I am cramped for space at present and I plan on adding on to my shop with an area for welding, fabrication and sheet metal work.  I have nonster set of sheet metal pinch rolls that weighs about 1400 lbs but is currently outside under cover.  I am looking to buy a box break and maybe a sheer but I need more room before that.

OK guys, that's my bit for an intro, maybe some links when I am allowed to post.

Later...

Nice truck, nice tools, where you from? Welcome.

Checked your site. Too bad about their servers. You'd think they'd back stuff up but they must have the same IT pros that I do at work!

Nice looking Ford. I always liked the 53-56 Fs. There is a big window just east of me in a barn. Looks 250 ish (big and long).

I'm just about 6 miles outside of Marietta, Ohio which is in the SE part of the state on I-77 where it crosses the Ohio River int WV.  If you found my personal site, it links to other sites I have which will probably give you a better idea.  Thanks for the welcome and the compliments.

Welcome to the RRT Dave.

That's a nice little shop of horrors you've got there. 8)   Thanks for the list of tools and where you live....now all I need to know is when you're not going to be home     I shouldn't have said that.  Now if something happens......

I enjoyed your truck pull videos too.  :0-0

Welcome,  Nice to see someone who does not subscribe to the theory, that all equipment MUST be industrial grey.

Welcome to the RRT. Another of our members, GPster lives in Marietta, right on the river. If you PM me a link, I can post it. The restriction on links is for spammers.

Hey George,
No problem, if I'm not here just talk to the Rottweiler, or the wife.  If I were you I'd opt for the Rottweiler, 'cause the wife is just plain mean.

Yeah, I know GPster, he was the one who lead me here.  I just didn't think to ask him what he was using for a username.  If you guys don't like me, you can blame him for this.

Thanks for the welcome and tell me where the pictures are of the Truck from Hell. GPster said there are other pictures from an earlier post.  Like I said, I think the same guy worked on my truck.  I am amazed at the messes some people can make but I guess we at least gotta give 'em credit for trying.

Hi Doug,
I guess you must be referring to the metalic blue paint on the Mill.  Rustoleum rattle can stuff...  The Blue and Gold theme really excited a buddy of mine across the river 'cause he"s a big WV fan.  Hmmm, maybe I should have used silver.  I'm with you though, after almost forty years doing industrial electrical work and construction, I've seen enough of the gray stuff.

Thanks for the welcome.

And if you all come down here this weekend to see his shop you can also enjoy the county fair. If your time for this weekend is planned then next weekend we have the Sternwheel Festival. My front yard is an excellant place for watching the fireworks (just two blocks and a river away).        I pionted him this way. I saw Marietta, Ohio written on a post on another site and I thought I was talking to myself till I saw his "Handle". I've also met another guy on said site that might fit in (he's got a Chevy powered Gremlin) but I think his computor time is limited, He's got a job. GPster
