try this link....

click on the small image and it will get big...

http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c15280078424

remember... the long lining to the rear of the car....

this might open it directly

http://econtent.autozone.com:24991/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images//0900c152/80/07/84/25//medium/0900c15280078425.gif

this is the pic for the right side of the car....

shoe 1 and lever 10 first... with pin and spring 8 holding it down...

part 14 over top anchor pin.

cable 16 over anchor pin. with the end of cable 16 over the top of the shoe.

then cable guide 9 into hole with spring 15 through the hole at the same time.. then streached over the top anchor pin..   (plate 9 need to be flush agenst the web of shoe 1 or the ajuster will not work)

insert the parking plate bar to the left of spring 12 and spring 12 over the axle shaft into the groove on part 10 just over where the 10 is...

next is shoe 3...  with pin 6 and spring 7...

then spring 13 at the top and over the anchor pin...

hook lever 5 into the hole just to the bottom of shoe 1...  put spring 4 into shoe 3... both of these go into the larger of the 2 holes on the bottom of the shoes...

push the shoes slightly together and hook spring 4 into lever 5...

take cable 16 and place it over cable guide 9 and lift lever 5 and hook it in..

with ajuster 2 lubed with a tiny bit of white grease... NOT DIELECTRIC silicone...  place the long end of ajuster 2 above the web on shoe 3... and push it back onto shoe 1... then spread the shoes and move the end into position on shoe 3...

to be sure the self ajuster is working...    deflect cable 16 and lever 5 should lift and when released rotate ajuster 2's starwheel;... when this is done it should spread the bottom of the shoes...  making ajuster 5 longer...    there are left and right hand threaded ajusters... and if you put  them on the wrong side the shoes will get looser as you drive... till the pedal does not work...

when done....  place drum over the shoes but not over the studs ... work it back and forth... turn the ajuster to spread the shoes till you remove most of the slack between the drum and shoes... this should be done on a drum without wear or a ridge on the open end...

drums and discs with a lump at the edge need turning or replacing...

shoe lining legnth knowlege...  on these self energizing brakes...  the long linings go to the rear of the car...   the shorts go to the front of the car...

when the brakes are applied.. the linings come out and contact the rotating drum...  the short lining pushes agenst the drum and forces the rear into the anchor pin at the top and tight into the brake drum... this reduced pedal effort and explains why they do not work as well in reverse...

pep the brake linings are on backward on that removed set up......

look at the length of the linings on the shoes...

the parking brake lever is on the right along with the primary shoe....

when this happens ... there will be reduced forward brake function...

i know that you have disassembled it already...

but for the other rodders that are going to read this post... i thought i would keep this correct...

(will someone. remove the sheep posts...)

why, what's wrong with ewe?

besides, i'd rather read about sheep than gerbils...

unless the cable comes out the back.
i'll look tonight when i get home.
i've got an explorer rear sitting around...

Yeah Wayne...I never took much notice when I took it off. Strange thing is the last few drum set up I have done never had leading and trailing shoes. They were all the same. I guess you can't go wrong that way   :)
