Title: I'm almost done with this TH350 but...
Post by: DRD57 on April 23, 2004, 12:17:02 AM
...I have a couple more questions.

I got the valve body 90% back together but there is one spring that was broken.

It's the one that goes in the hole with the red arrow.

The other picture shows the broken spring and one that I fished out of the junk spring can to replace it. The replacement is a little smaller wire.

How critical is this spring? Is this replacement sufficient or should I make another trip to the local tranny shop to see if they have one in their spare parts pile?

Don,  Tony will correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the T.V.  spool spring. It is VERY CRITICAL on a 700R4.  You should get to a trans shop and scoop one that's still intact.  Length is critical as well, check out the tech article at Bowtie Overdrives.

Rochie

But he isn't working on a 700R4. If you look ar the subject line he is talking about a TH350.

Yeah, what El Gato Gordo said.

You must've got confused by my roadster post.

This TH350 is for a friend's 47 coupe.

The recently identified 700R4 (that I thought was a TH350 before I really looked at it) was for my beater roadster project.

As soon as I get this TH350 done I'll rip into the 700R4 and decide if I want to use it for the roadster or I may use one of these TH400's that I have laying around.

So, I still need to know what to do about this spring.
